Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret

by Judy Blume

Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret is a story about a girl named Margaret who has a Catholic mom and a Jewish dad. That might not seem like such a big deal, but according to her grandparents, it is. Also, since she doesn't go to church, it is hard for her to make friends. The friends she makes start a club and do lots of weird things together! It's a great book and it should be read by all!

I've never read this book, but I saw a chapter of it and I thought it looked a little weird, like something my mom wouldn't want me to read. Do you think it is?

It isn't really weird. It just is sympathetic with 12-year-old girls. Yes, it does talk about getting a bra and having your period, and it is nice for a girl who doesn't have religious parents.

I didn't really like this book. It's a girls-only book.

I am replying to Atali:

I have read this book and it IS a girls only book for various reasons not mentioned in the review.....

O.K. bye!

I think that your reply to the book Are You There God?  It's Me, Margaret.  is exactly what I thought about the book when I read the first 2-3 chapters.  It's a little strange.

I liked this book a lot. Don't be so surprised because Judy Blume writes books about things that people might consider taboo. But this is good. Its weird though because it takes place in the 70's.
