The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings

by J. R. R. Tolkien

This is a great series of books! The Hobbit is about a normal, respectable hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who goes out on a mystical adventure with dwarfs. On the way he discovers a ring filled with dark magic.  The Lord of the Rings is about Bilbo Baggins's friend, named Frodo Baggins. He goes out on an even more mystical journey to end the power of the ring before Saurum gets it.

This is a wonderful series. The Hobbit is considerably cozier, and LOTR drags on and on in places, but all-in-all, they're both amazing.

I love these books. Have you tried The Silmarillion? it's about the history of Middle-earth (kind of).
