Coppertown is a mining city, and Jack Hick's family is a mining family. However, the copper mines are extremely dangerous. Both Jack's uncle and grandfather died in mining accidents. Jack wants his father to be safe, but when the miners strike, he finally gets to see what Coppertown is like without mining. Yes, green things finally have a chance to grow, but will Jack's beloved Coppertown ever be the same friendly, mining-centered community?
