This book is really good. A girl named Jayna has an older brother named Rob and he is going to war as a ship cook, and Jayna is afraid he will not come back alive. She meets a ghost who helps her find her long-lost grandmother, who runs a bakery in Brooklyn. Jayna, whose nickname is 'Gingersnap', makes many friends and gets to know more about her family. But the real question is, Who is the ghost? This book is wonderful. Read it.
