The Tale of Despereaux

by Kate Dicamillo

This book is a good book for 9 to 13 year olds. The main characters are Despereaux, Princess Pea, the servant girl and the evil rat. Despereaux is a small mouse who falls in love with the HUMAN princess.

Laughing I loved this book. I thought it was really good, the way everyone gets a happy ending, even Rascuro, who was, was, the bad guy.

I haven't read it, but I have seen the comershole and it looked really cool. I am sure the book is great. Do you think any part is boring?

I rate this book 5 out of 5 because of the humor and adventure. ( I especially enjoyed the part when the Princess Pea finds Despereaux the friendly mouse.)

Kate DiCamillo has really outdone herself!!

I really like this book. I have read it three times. Has anyone read the book and seen the movie? I didn't see the movie because it looked like they changed a bunch of stuff. I think the movie dudes are pronouncing Despereaux wrong. I believe the 's' is silent. Anyone know French?

I know French, and I think you would pronounce the 's'. Smile

I'm sorry! I asked my French tutor, and he said you might or might not pronounce the 's'.

I have read & seen but it's been years. I remember liking it though (the MOVIE.) As Kate di Camillo hoped, it was "a light in the darkness."Smile

I've done both, but the movie is totally wrong. I think the book is way better.

The Tale Of Despereaux is a really great  book! I love how courageous he is when he gets thrown into the dungeon when he gets close to Princess Pea.  Although sad, this book is one you'll read over and over again!SmileWinkSmile

A perfect book for our younger readers. My class read it in first or second grade, and it completely enthralled us all!

The Tale of Despereaux is SO AWESOME.

The graphic novel is so different from the novel. Roscuro is bad in the novel but according to the movie (and the graphic novel), Roscuro is like all good and says sorry. I like the nasty Roscuro. It makes it more interesting.

Who's your favourite character? I like Princess Pea.
