the ostrich and other lost things

by Beth Hautala

Olivia Grant is eleven years old and great at finding lost
things. When her autistic brother, Jacob, loses his favorite toy, he also loses
the ability to control himself. She wonders if he’ll ever be himself again. Olivia
gets into trouble for sneaking into the zoo. Charlie, the zookeeper’s son, helps
her to search for the toy. Its ending is happy, but the book has sad parts, too.
It’s a book I just couldn’t put down.
