Erec Rex is a series about a boy who finds out he is destined to be king in a magical land he's never heard of.  His adoptive mom disappears, and while searching for her he discovers this land.  He has to perform these 12 tasks before ruling, each of which is more dangerous then the last.  This series will eventually have eight books in it, though only three have been published so far.  This is a great series for anyone who liked Harry Potter and Eragon.
