The Secret Garden

by Frances Hodgson Burnett

This book is about a girl named Mary, a "disagreeable child," who lives in India. When her parents die of cholera, she is sent to live with her uncle in England, at a place called Misselthwaite Manor. When she arrives there, for the first time in her life, she makes friends, learns to love, and finds out many secrets, one of which is a secret overgrown garden which no one has seen for ten years...

Amy, I completely agree with you. My book says at the back that there is another version, whichich is probably what Pippi G. read. She sure can't have read the same great book that I did!

I disagree with you. I really like this book. I found it on my sixth grade reading list. Has it been on anyone else's list for school?

I totally agree, Amy! It makes me sad when people call old-fashioned books "nerdy."  It's kind of like kids; there are popular ones, and outspoken ones.

This book was AMAZING!! I absolutely loved it. It's about a spoiled little girl from India whose parents die from a disease. She moves into her uncle's mysterious mansion and lives with him. There is also a movie, but the book was way better.
