I love this book, but don't read it if you don't like sad books. Ida B. is a very strong character and easy to love. It's a beautifully written book.

Me and my mom read this for a book club, and i didn't like it because of the mediocre ending, all the betrayals/ sadness, and how when she had a second chance at having a fun shcool life with a good teacher, it didn't take. . I suppose that this is sortta realistic though.... i'm more of a fantasy, happy ending type, so that is probably why it didn't take.... i can see why some would enjjoy it- My mom really did! there is a lot of great emotions.

My librarian recommended this book to me. I loved it, but it was so sad... I nearly cried.

If your mom got cancer, wouldn't you be sad, BellaTrix?

This book does have sad things in it, but the author did a *really*good job making you feel how Ida B's feeling. I felt sad myself when Ida B was sad! There are a few funny parts, like when she calls one of the apple trees "that punk Paulie T." and when she tells about the  soap mask, which was sort of funny. The end was kind of disappointing. I guess I wanted things to be better than they were at the end of the book.
