The Declaration

by Gemma Malley

This is a really good book! At first I thought I would get bored with this book, like I do with most, but this book is truly captivating. It is set in the year 2040, and there's this drug that can make you live forever. The catch to this drug is you can't have any children and those who do inevitably have their child caught and taken away to a surplus centre, where they're trained to become slaves for those who are "legal." The story follows Surplus Anna, a fourteen-year-old girl, who has been indoctrinated into hating herself and her "selfish" parents for giving life to her, that is until she meets Peter and her life is changed forever!

I really enjoyed The Declaration. It has interesting things to think about. Would it be good for the human race to live forever? What would the consequences of that be?
