The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

by John Boyne

Bruno moves from Berlin to the middle of nowhere. On "the other side of the fence" there are lots of people, but  Bruno is too young to understand that he can't go over there because where all those people are is a concentration camp. Bruno makes friends with Shmuel, who is from the concentration camp. At the end of the story something VERY sad happens to Bruno and Shmuel. I wont tell you what happens even though I really want you to find out! It is so sad. This story takes place during the time when Hitler wanted to kill all Jews because they were "different" from other people. Even though I'm not Jewish, I think Hitler was very, very stupid and wrong to even THINK ABOUT DOING THAT and then he was even more stupid to actually DO THAT!

The movie is sad (but good) , and I guess the endings are the same, because something sad happened. I haven't read the book yet, but my dad says I should.
