Charlie Bone and the Children of the Red King Series

by Jenny Nimmo

Charlie Bone thinks he is a normal boy in a very unusual family. His father has disappeared, and his aunts give him the creeps. But one day, Charlie finds out that he can hear people in photographs. His aunts trick him into telling them, and he is sent to Bloors Academy, where there are other kids like him. They share the same ancestor, the Red King, a magician. Meanwhile, the Bloors are on a quest to keep Charlie from finding out more than they want him to. A fantastic book of magic and friendship.
