The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

by John Boyne

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is about two nine-year-old boys: Bruno and a Jewish boy. Bruno's father is a highly ranked Nazi officer, so his family is forced to move to a house next to a concentration camp. Bruno has no idea why there is a fence with people wearing striped pajamas on the other side. One day while exploring, he meets a Jewish boy on the other side of it, and his whole life changes. This is a heart-wrenching story and states that everyone is the same. It lets you know on how cruel man can be. I don't recommend this book for people younger than 11 years old.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas has got to be one of the saddest books that I have ever read! The story is amazing and well written, but it is such a heart-wrenching story that it almost blots out all of the good things.
