The Little House on the Prairie Series

by Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Little House books are really good. They are historical fiction books. It tells the about the events of the author's childhood, riding in a covered wagons, living in homemade log cabins, and watching Pa deal with wolves and indians. You will love these books. If you like these books, there are more little house series about the authors' mother's childhood, and the authors' daughter's childhood, written by different people. Try these books. You won't be able to stop reading.

Huh??  It isn't historical fiction!  It's...  Umm...  Not biography...  Not autobiography...  Umm...  Well, it isn't fiction...

Being a vegan, I thought it was gross.  I mean, the pig gets slaughtered and she's so sad.  The next second, she's so happy because she gets to play with the bladder.  Urrgghh....

Yeah...I remember that part from when my third grade teacher was reading it to us in class. I didn't enjoy it much, because she usually read after lunch or recess, so I found the story boring...

Bella, think about it. If you didn't have plastic or a ball to play with, I think you would like to play with the pigs bladder. And ifyou only got one a year, you would definitely be happy.

Didn`t Laura herself write the books based on letters and her own experience?

BellaTrix, I'm a vegan too, but you have to remember, this took place a long time ago! Back then, they didn't have technology, Laura didn't know how to read, they didn't have toys... She was just glad to have something new to do! It sems heartless, but she really didn't get very much leisure time, so it was like a special treat. Also, she was only 5 years old! When you're that young, ideas like that being disgusting just don't cross your mind.
