Everyone asks people

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

which book charecter do you hate the most? from any book, really.
Everyone asks people...

Everyone asks people who their favorite book character or who their fanasty crush is, but no one asks who's their least favorite book charecter. I wonder why that is?

And I was curious...who is your least favorite book character?

Cool idea! The only character I can really think of is. . .

Margo Roth Spigelman

I don't really know why, I mean I like John Green's characters well enough but Margo especially just really got on my nerves!

Me too, but I think that because we see Margo from Quentin's point of view, she's completely romanticized, which can be super annoying- she seems unrelatable or like she doesn't care about other people. Q even says in the first paragraph of the book that Margo is his miracle- he (and the majority of his grade, it seems) forget constantly that she is literally just a human being with flaws and issues. (It really bothered me that no one was deeply concerned about her-she's run away several times, her home life is not that great, she thinks of herself as a "paper girl" (a fake, basically), and furthermore she does nothing to dispel the unhealthy views that people, even her best friend, have about her, and when she finds that her boyfriend has been cheating on her, she doesn't react in a healthy manner either.) Quentin FINALLY realizes later that "She was not a miracle. She was not an adventure. She was not a fine and precious thing. She was a girl."(You could have said that 230 pgs earlier, dude.) Although Margo does't reject her classmate's views about her (most of the time she helps them out a lot-I mean honestly, is breaking into Seaworld completely necessary?) that never excuses them for glorifying her and thinking of her as anything beyond a human being with wants, needs, desires and flaws.

Sorry if this came out at all agressive, it's really not meant to, I just wanted to share my thoughts on Margo. I get why people don't like her, and I didn't like her at first but now I've kinda directed most of my annoyance  at Q- I don't know, it's hard for me to feel anything more than pity toward her. (I don't really think Q's in love with her either. He's in love with an idea of a person he created by looking at a fraction of her life.)

Argh, Jason annoys me too. He just seems a bit too much of a stereotypical hero.

Dolores Umbridge. There have been many despicable characters written over the years, but Umbridge is the only one I wish to see totally destroyed. She is a despicable human being, may she rot in Azkaban for a thousand years.

I also dislike all of the characters in Twilight, but they are all to stupid to actually despise.  May the books be shredded, burned, then TOSSED INTO TARTARUS!

Oh, geez...

Umbridge of course, I really didn't like Farid, and I don't like Peeta that much either. For Farid and Peeta, I just don't like their character. And Umbridge is just a horrible person who hates everything and everyone except cats, pink, and Corneilus Fudge.

Maeve from the Throne of Glass series. She is so fricking evil and I hate her. SO MUCH. Especially at the end of EoS, though I won't say what happened because spoilers.

Aww, really? I found Maeve really well-developed and perfect for her role but I really hated 1) Archer Finn and 2) Sam and 3) I didn't really like Chaol too much

I have to agree that she is great for her role but that doesn't make her a good person. She is a good, and by good I mean realistic and realatively well developed character, but she is not a good person. I really don't want to start an argument though so on to ranting about other book characters that I have recently come to hate. Number one, the Darkling from the Grisha Trilogy. Spoilers starting now.... AGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's just so evil and what he did to Genya and I actually threatened to murder him (I'm normal, I swear.) because she was so perfect and she even chose him over her only friend and he still did that to her and so much hate is flowing through me right now!! But to quote him "You'll soon tire of hate."

And now onto the second subject of my rant, Vasily from the same series. He's just so arrogant and stupid and mean to his brother (who is amazing and perfect and wonderful) and it's all his fault that the Darkling is now sort of King.

Well that was a long spoiler filled rant. You were warned though. This is really weird because I'm using my grandma's iPad and it's so different from the computer I usually use.
