I Kill Giants & Maus
So I read...

So I read these books very recently and I would like to share my thoughts on them. Both of them use the Graphic Novel format to add certain effects to the story, so I'm putting them in one thread.

I Kill Giants:

This is a graphic novel about a girl who kills giants. Both literally and metaphorically. Except the literal giants are also the metaphorical ones. It's complicated to explain. This book was emotionally poignant, and it had a great message. The art style did everything to increase the effect and mood of the story. Also a movie came out recently and I want to see it.

9.5 Waffles out of 10.

Maus:

Maus is the story of the holocaust (specificly the author's fathers experiance during the holocaust) in a graphic navel format through animals like mice, cats, and pigs. As far as I can tell, the mice are the jews, the cats are nazis, and the pigs/other animals are gentiles. The way it uses animals and the masterful dialogue and narration comes together in this amazing, powerful story of survival against all odds.

10 Waffles out of 10.

I haven't heard of the first one, but I've read Maus! It's an incredible, powerful book, and I'd recommend it if you want to learn more about the realities of the Holocaust, but some parts get very dark and graphic so younger readers, be careful :)

First off, you should know I am a bookworm(or a bookaholic). Anyway, I am crazy about books. So far, my favorite book is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I think you should read it.

Have y’all read the companions to Wonder? The Julian Chapter, Pluto, and the other that I can’t remember the name of? They’re good too.

I finished Maus, and I read I Kill Giants 2 or 3 times. It’s amazing. Like wow.
