Sad Parts of Books
This a a...

This a a place to post the saddest parts of book you've read........

I'll start out with that part in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows where Harry is thinking about what his life would have been like if his parents had not died.....It makes me cry inside just thinking about it. :( Cry

In the book Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein (which I highly recommend!), one of the main characters dies (not giving spoilers here), and it's just. So. Sad.

Oy! So, I love Rick Riordan's books, and I've read basically all of his books. Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, The Magnus Chase Trilogy, and all of the Trials of Apollo that have come out so far, not to mention all of the crossovers and guides that he wrote for each series, like the guide to everything, the demigod trials (or something), and both the Greek Gods, and Greek Heroes, just to mention a few. One of the saddest moments was in the third Trials of Apollo book, The Burning Maze, I believe, when one of the main  characters, who has been in several books in at least 2 series, thus far, is killed off. It felt so unrealistic, too, considering everything the character had been through, all those life-threatening  moments, but only now dies? Also, when the other remaining characters go to the now dead character's room, they see a project on a desk how to include all of the minor gods and goddesses, as a promise from an earlier series. It was such a heart-wrenching moment. Not to even begin on how the dead character just broke up with one of the other characters, and then reading their reactions while they watch the character die, gruesomely. I felt so ripped off when the main character tells the other characters that since the dead character was always so righteous, that they shouldn't revive that character or it would be against the dead character's ethics, or something. Then the dead characters' former relationshipee abandons the rest, so they get beat up and are about of be eternally tortured when the flake-character came back, saving, but also warning them that they would be personally murdered by that character if they were ever seen again... So yeah, I'm now just sooo curious about what happens in the fourth book. I think I actually got more angry than sad at this point...

Sorry, that turned into a rant. In fact when I first read that part, I stopped reading and began to rant, as well. I tried not to give explicite spoilers, but if you've read alot of Rick Riordan, you might know who I talking about, already. My deepest apologies.

Oh, I know exactly who you're talking about. (I actually got accidentally spoiled for that one before I read it LOL) I agree! It seemed so wrong, and not...real? That sounds kind of dumb, but you know what I mean, hopefully. I just didn't understand it. Like, what does that do for the plot? Besides make that character's love interest a wreck?

I think I actually cried at the end of Deathly Hallows when Harry uses the resurrection stone. It’s such a moving sequence.

The only one of all of these that I've rea is Harry Potter, but those two are really sad.

SPOILER ALERT

The parts that I think are the worst is when Fred and Sirius die in Harry Potter. They're just such amazing characters and then... they died!! *sob*

Thanks for realizing that, Admins!

*wipes eyes*

You know, I inserted it just in case someone looking at your comment hadn't read the books.

For me, especially with Fred... something about how he was such a playful character, always joking around, funny at the most desperate of times... and he and George were such a twosome, it was like George simply couldn't and shouldn't exist without Fred...

The Subtle Knife, chapter 14 (Alamo Gulch), from the Golden Compass series, is the only part of any book to make me actually cry. The two close seconds are in the first Golden Compass book when they try to take Pan away from Lyra, and the ending of My Sister’s Keeper, by Jodi Picoult.

SPOILERS!

Dumbledore's death and the results because of it. WOW! I did not expect that our last year we spend with Harry in Hogwarts would end in this tragedy. This death came very suddenly, and I can't believe it happened. The seventh book made it a little better, but just how Harry reacted and Fawkes and just... yeah

Probably the part in The Julian Chapter where. . .

SPOILER ALERT

Julian's grandmother is telling him the story of Torteau, and especially the part at the end where Torteau says "my name is Julian" and then is taken away like one day later-so sad I think it made me cry
