#ReviveBAB!

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

CB Book Club <3 (Take 2!)
#ReviveBAB!  ...

#ReviveBAB!

Way back in April or so I made a CB book club! It was actually pretty successful, and we all chose a book to start reading. Unfortunetely, I sort of had a low key breakdown around that time and despawned from the CB for three months. Whoops. Anyway, Lumi reminded me of the idea so I thought I'd start it up again as part of the #ReviveBAB movement!

The concept is kind of like school book clubs, except the books will be chosen by us (I'm looking at you, Catcher in the Rye sitting on my desk). First, we can vote on a book (suggest down below!). Then, we can all get the book to read. I know a lot of libraries are closed, so I would recommend Overdrive/Sora/Libby or Kindle if you have it. Next, we'll decide on how much we want to read each week. On a certain day, we can get together to discuss what happened!

Because I'm kind of inconsistent, If anyone wants to help me lead that would be awesome!

I also want to implement a new idea that's different from last time. I'm thinking that every week we could have a discussion leader that creates discussion questions we could answer!

Here's the sign up if you're interested!

The Penderwicks: 4, it sounds really good!

The Book Thief: 3, I've never read it, but I'd be interested to! I saw the movie years and years ago, but I don't remember much.

Rooftoppers: 5, something about the plot sounds really appealing!

The Sun is Also a Star: 4, one of my favorites, but I read it fairly recently.

I hope it's not too late to join? I would love some book buddies! :)

Name: Jwyn

Favorite genres: Most anything, but especially fantasy and mystery.

Book suggestions: Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi and Story Thieves by James Riley

Would you be interested in being a discussion leader?:  Maybe? Not sure if I would be the best at coming up with discussion questions, but I could, theoretically.

And my votes are:

The Penderwicks -- 3

The Book Thief -- 5

The Rooftoppers -- 4

The Sun is also a Star -- 4

These sound so good, and I haven't read any of them! I'll have to look and see if I can get all of them digitally, though.

Ok, I counted up the votes and our first book will be The Book Thief by Markus Zusak! It recieved 27 points, narrowly edging out Rooftoppers. I think this is a great first book because it's pretty easy to find at libraries and hopefully online as well. I'm going to look for it tomorrow at school.

@PygmyOwl, would you like to be the first discussion leader? I know you're a big fan of this book, and you probably know it really well! <3

Maybe we can all aim to get the book by this Friday? Reply below once you get The Book Thief so we know when to start! PygmyOwl, how many chapters per week do you think is reasonable?

Friday works for me! I already have the book checked out from when I attemped to force my sister to read it, but it will probably need to be renewed.

The chapters aren't a very even length, some of them are quite long and some are about two pages. I would say that we read the entire prologue, which has about ten 1-2 page chapters in one week, and then after that we can read 3 chapters a week.

Checked it out from Overdrive! I have it for 3 weeks and can probably renew, there wasn't a wait on it.

I just realized that if we try to read The Book Thief in increments of three chapters, it will be forever before we actually finish it, so I actually think three chapter would be best.

So, we're starting today! Fidelity, how do you want the discussion questions to work? Should I ask the first round next Friday, after everyone should have read the prologue?
