Hello Alien Artist! Are you new to the cb? I'm Chickadee, but you can call me Chicky. I have never read Percy Jackson, but I know people who do.

Well, the reason I enjoy Percy Jackson — scratch that, the whole Olympus saga — is a few reasons. One, they're, clean books. So many books for teenagers, and even some tweens are full of weird romance and bad words. But Percy Jackson is an escape from that, with nice, wholesome love stories and fake bad words, like gosh darn it, and "Leo muttered something under his breath that made me want to wash his mouth out with soap." Nothing actual. And that is a sort of refuge from other books that are great but full of mature stuff.

Plus, they're popular books. I like being in on the secret, being shut out is no fun, which is the reason I started reading them in the first place. Like you, I wanted to see what was so great about them.

And they're shortish. The longer ones, I can read in a few days. This doesn't apply to everyone, since I'm a pretty fast reader and take more hours reading than a lot of other people, but this is one of the things I like, I can fly through an entire series quickly, as a placeholder while I'm waiting for library books to arrive.

And, lastly, they're about a magical world, the sort that I've always dreamed could exist but knew, in the back of my mind, I would never have access to in my physical body. But, like with Harry Potter, here is a story about ordinary kids, like me, who turn out to be not-so-ordinary. They're brave, they can save the world, they have magic powers It's highly unrealistic and they kill monsters way too easily, and it's totally against my beliefs as a pacifist. But, the bottom line is, it's fun to read.

Lalala. That turned out longer than I wanted. But those are a few reasons why I like the series of series written by Rick Riordan about Greek/Roman mythology.

Something to keep in mind while reading these books is that they were written for the author's ADHD son. They contain a lot of action, have a fast pace, and some fun monster fights--but those are all there for a very, very sweet reason. c:

I read Percy Jackson cause my older siblings told me to, and I loved it. I think what I like about it personally is that the characters are super lifelike and that there's a ton of action. Also, I think the idea of the premise is really creative. Like, who would have thought of combining Greek mythology with summer camp? And if you read them you'll never forget anything you learned about mythology. It's already helped me in school!

But, like, you don't have to love it. I know a couple people who don't. It just depends on what you like, I guess.

Uh, Sabine...this might be a bit of a strech, but do you happen to have a friend named Olivia? Because my cousin lives in Maryland and has a friend named Sabine, so it would be cool if you were the same person...I doubt it, though.\

Also, I completely agree with what everyone here said about Percy Jackson-- it's awesome, for so many reasons!

Oh no, sorry for confusing you. My name is not actually Sabine, and I picked that to use on the CB because of Sabine Wren, a character from Star Wars Rebels. I do know a couple people named Olivia but I don't know if they have friends who are actually named Sabine :)

Azalea, I'm pretty new to the CB, if I clicked reply on your comment does that mean it only goes to you? Sorry, I've only been on here for about a week I think :)

Ok, well I didn't expect you to be that person at all! And to your question, no, everyone can see everything you post here, just if you reply it makes it in a smaller box below the originial comment (like mine). Welcome to the CB, by the way! Feel free to ask any other questions :)

I know everthing about the blood of olympus saga and I love it! I even memorized the prophecy: 7 halfbloods shall answer the call, to storm or fire the world will fall, a vow to keep with a final breath, foes bear arms to the doors of death. BTW it stinks that Leo doesn't like percy for a while. THey should be best friends!

The same reason they love Harry Potter. You see, it's a lot of fun to think about a boy (or girl) our age doing something that we can't. In a way, it's a self-insert, like, "That could be me," or "I would love to do that!" These are all assumptions I've made, actually, but i know this is how it is for me.
