book log 2025
This is the...

This is the book log 2025! I'll just copy-and-paste what pangolin wrote last year :) :

if you don't know how this works, here's the drill: once you finish a book, post the title and author here (if you want, you can also include your thoughts on the book, its genres, how many stars out of five you'd rate it, whatever). at the end of the year, you can see how many books you've read, plus you get a ton of recommendations from other people's lists!

(Re-)Started 1/1 - The Poppy War

I'm probably not going to finish it, though---I'm really having to pick and choose which books I keep reading and which ones I don't have time for. Hopefully this way I can start reading a lot of the books I've been wanting to read for maybe two years now.

1/1 - Ivypool's Heart by Erin Hunter

Pretty good book, though maybe not the best. I would give it a 3.5/5. A good read but a bit similar to other warriors books I've read in some respects.

I finished my first book of the year! The Cruel Prince, by Holly Black. I really enjoyed it, I'd rate it 4/5 stars. It's fantasy romance, and quite dark. The writing was soo good, I can't wait to read the second one.

Went on a road trip last week, so I got lots of reading in:

Witch Hat Atelier vol. 1 (4/5) love love LOVE the illustrations, can't wait to read more!

Emily of New Moon by LM Montgomery (4.5/5) I still love Anne of Green Gables the most but this was truly a great time and I enjoyed every minute of it. Lately I have been reading a lot of escapist books, thus the girl-vibing-on-a-farm choice.

Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli (4/5) it's a romance (love triangle) but I was mostly there for the friendship dynamics between the protagonist and her best friend. I love Becky Albertalli.

Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli (2/5) This is a book composed in emails, and I listened to it an audiobook...which did not work. The ending/entire book felt very unsatisfying...which is annoying because it's basically an epilogue book.

Second book of the year: The Final Gambit, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. 4/5 stars. So good. I lovee Jameson in this book!! The mysteries are a little confusing, though.

Third book: The Brothers Hawthorne, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. 4.75/5 stars. This one was amazing!! The way she switches between perspectives is just..*chefs kiss*

Fourth: Amari and the Despicable Wonders, by B. B. Alston. 3.5/5 stars. I didn't like it as much as the first two, but still enjoyable and superrr well written.
