Your Perfect Utopia

Your Perfect Utopia

So, my school has a book club, and we're reading the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It's a dystopian novel. During our meeting today, my teacher talked about something he called being on autopilot. Have you ever been driving on a familiar route, one you go on a lot, when you suddenly look up and think, wait... we're here already? Or done something that is so normal or regular to you that you don't even think about doing it? It's kind of creepy to think about. I think 'being on autopilot' is a big part of dystopian novels, because these people are just going about their life thinking things are normal and okay, when really, the society is messed up? What if we're like that today?

After we finished our discussion, our teacher gave us an assignment- we had to come up with our perfect utopia. This seemed easy. How hard is it to create a perfect world? But, as my friends and I talked about what our worlds would be like, we discovered that our ideas were similar to what the leaders in dystopian literature do. Make it so there is no rich or poor people? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Communism? Take away money? That would never work in a million years. Force people to share their resources with the people who have none? Isn't that sort of like Communism again? So, how would you make a perfect world?

I think the only solution would be to have some type of replicator. If money is the root of all evil, and money is used to buy resources, and resources are limited, making them unlimited would solve all the problems. The only thing we would need would be energy to run it. So, what are you guys' thoughts? What would your perfect utopia be?

P.S. My friend came up with the best idea- "Make people wear mermaid tails every day!" I want a dystopian novel in that society.

Wow. You're right.

My theory is: We cannot have a perfect world today. But the perfect utopia would be heaven. No, really!

Think about it. No one would fight with anyone else, or be sad. Just happy, because they are in God's precense. There would also be no needs or wants, for they would all be satisfied.
