White elephant game!

White elephant game!

So everyone who wants to play should make 4 posts:

1. A post describing the wrappings of an imaginary gift. Probably about 11 other people can sign up, but i will tell you when spots are full.

2. When I declare that spots are filled, we will choose the gift we want in the order we signed up (I will go first). If someone takes more than a day or two to claim a gift, you can skip their turn, and they can post as soon as possible.

3. When someone chooses your gift, reply to their post revealing what it is. Gifts can be something real (picturing, poem, etc.) or something virtual (a yacht, the moon, a barrel of pudding, etc.). Also reveal your identity.

4. A thank you note, obviously! That's only polite.

Rules:

1. Post under an alias, but don't guess who other players are! The exception: You can guess me. I think it's pretty obvious, I'm not even trying to disguise my writing style, but who knows...

2. Wrap your gift creatively!

3. Don't reveal your own identy until someone claims your gift! If the present you choose turns out to be a picturing, or something else that requires your CB identy, you can make an exception, or simply wait until your gift is claimed and everyone knows who you are.

4. Remember to post!

5. Have a very very merry Christmas!

My gift is about 3" by 6" by 2". It is wrapped in peacock feathers and golden ribbon (like, actual gold). Many have sought this gift, but whenever anyone other than me reaches out for it, the feathers unfold into wings and it flies just out of their reach... poor them.

Joining!

The gift is sitting on your desk, wrapped in paper the color of a desert sunrise. A little wren perches itself on the gift, singing it's beautiful tune. If anyone were to sing a song near the wren, it would repeat the melody, simular to the mockinjays in The Hunger Games. The gift is tied with a silver ribbon. Despite the fact that it rests on your desk, you still have no idea of it's size nor weight, and just thinking about it's mass is giving you a headache.

It has the Hogwarts crest print, on black wrapping paper. *coughs* It also has doodles all over it ... maybe. (Ignore those. They shouldn't exist.)

My gift is shaped like a cylinder. It's wrapped in shiny silver paper, and there are reflextions of other colors that you see out of the corner of your eye, and dissapear as soon as you look for them. A single blue ribbon is wrapped around it, and attached to the ribbon is a silver heart with a slot for a key that may never be found.

Jingle jingle! This is a great idea!

My present is long and tall, thin and stiff. It's about 4" by 2" by 8". The wrapping paper is a glittering silver (but not with that glitter that gets everywhere!), with an emerald green ribbon that feels like the smoothest silk. Every once in awhile, little flickers of light will break out of the paper, glowing out from beneath... ooOoOoo mysterious!

My gift is a small, plain cedar wood box, 8" by 4" by 3". On top sits a bright scarlet ribbon, and from a small crack in the worn wood seeps a glowing white light, potentially blinding to anyone who gets too close.

As you attempt to pick up the box, perhaps to try and judge what's inside, it slips out of your hands and falls back to the ground with a clatter. Careful now! Goodness knows what would happen if it broke.

Great idea! My gift is a bit large, about the size of a turkey platter but no larger.   It measures about 6" by 7" by 10".  The wrapping is a scaly blue with scattered silver scales resembling stars spaced in winter constellations.   The ribbon is a feathery gold enlined with platinum bronze which fade into an almost rosy pink at the tips.   If you look close enough you'll be able to make out barely enquirable hyroglyphics which will only be revealed to the receiver at the right time.    Perched on top of the bow is a black diamond cat with mirrored eyes.  This cat is the guardian of the gift; remove him from it and the gift will be nothing but a threshold for dust.   Remove the gift from the cat and you  and all your lineage will be cursed.

Ooh, fun idea! My gift is a smallish square, just the right size to hold in your arms. It's wrapped in sparkling red paper, with glitter that falls gracefully to the ground whenever it is touched. The ribbon is gold lined burlap, with a giant bow on top. It has a bit if fake-no, real, actually- snow on top, which makes it even more stunning. It glows, and is almost warm... Merry Christmas!
