White elephant game!

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

White elephant game!

White elephant game!

So everyone who wants to play should make 4 posts:

1. A post describing the wrappings of an imaginary gift. Probably about 11 other people can sign up, but i will tell you when spots are full.

2. When I declare that spots are filled, we will choose the gift we want in the order we signed up (I will go first). If someone takes more than a day or two to claim a gift, you can skip their turn, and they can post as soon as possible.

3. When someone chooses your gift, reply to their post revealing what it is. Gifts can be something real (picturing, poem, etc.) or something virtual (a yacht, the moon, a barrel of pudding, etc.). Also reveal your identity.

4. A thank you note, obviously! That's only polite.

Rules:

1. Post under an alias, but don't guess who other players are! The exception: You can guess me. I think it's pretty obvious, I'm not even trying to disguise my writing style, but who knows...

2. Wrap your gift creatively!

3. Don't reveal your own identy until someone claims your gift! If the present you choose turns out to be a picturing, or something else that requires your CB identy, you can make an exception, or simply wait until your gift is claimed and everyone knows who you are.

4. Remember to post!

5. Have a very very merry Christmas!

My gift is about 3" by 6" by 2". It is wrapped in peacock feathers and golden ribbon (like, actual gold). Many have sought this gift, but whenever anyone other than me reaches out for it, the feathers unfold into wings and it flies just out of their reach... poor them.

Are you my classmate??? I suggested this and we did it at school!!! If I may still join, my gift is in a grubby paper bag with the words "deliciously colorful" on it in red sharpie.

P.S. Mele kalikimaka!

PPS it's pretty obvious who I am now. ;)

Could I choose A White Christmas's gift? Ring!

Is it too late to join? I hope not. This is such a cool idea. :)

The gift from me is a large sphere with a diameter of six feet. That's right, six feet. I did say a large sphere. It's wrapped in a collage of poetry and sheet music. It's not rock hard; you can poke it and make a temporary dent. On top is a giant sparkly purple blue bow with gold ribbon. One would be able to roll this ball around if it weren't that from the bow, strings of white Christmas lights go around the sphere, enough to stand out but not enough to cover up too much of the poems.

Is it too late? I'm really sorry. Here's my gift:

This gift is inside a small tin box, about 4 inches wide, 8 inches long, and two inches high. It makes a rattleing sound if you shake it back and forth. The box is wrapped in paper the pattern of Van Gogh's Starry Night, and is tied up by satiny yellow and cream-colored ribbon that compliments the stars on the wrapping paper. A tag on the side says, To: Whoever chooses the gift, From: A Christmas Artist. You wonder what that means...

@Everyone, you don't have to go in any particular order anymore. Just make sure no one has already picked the gift you want.

@Glowing Candle, Gingerbread Cookie, and Christmas Artist, you may join, but no one else, please

@Glowing Candle I'm Shoshannah

People don't seem to be selecting presents in the order of joining...not a lot of people seem to be selecting presents at all, at least not the ones who joined first..could we just start claiming presents?

And I choose...Silver Bells's present! *rubs silky green ribbon against cheek* Silver Bells, do you require my identity for your gift? (If it's a picturing or something.) *gasp* It happened again! The pulse of light! *watches, transfixed*

I don't need your identity, don't worry! Here's the gift:

There it is.

The present.

As you move towards it, the pulsing light somehow seems to get stronger, and with every step you take a warm beat emits from the gift. You pick it up, surprised at how easy it is to heft up. With how large it is, you'd expect it to be much heavier. The silver wrapping paper shines, the glittering surface twinkling at you. Taking the green ribbon in your hands, you give it a gentle tug, and it flutters off, dancing in the air. For a second you just feel the ribbon, shivering with delight at the silky smoothness of the material. Then you reach for the wrapping paper, scratching at it with your nails to get the tape off. Whoever wrapped this sure is careful--the paper is latched on with as much tape as it can hold. Finally, though, you peel it away, and tear the rest of the paper off easily. It's a box, long and thin and stiff as a board. You take a quick breath and grab the lid, pulling it to reveal--

A SNAKE!

O-oh, wait, you think, feeling a bit silly. All you saw was something long and thin come swirling out at you, but looking at it closer you can see it's clearly not a snake. But then... what is it?

It's a candy cane! But it's the oddest you've ever seen. The striped red-and-white pattern is obvious enough, but it's flexible and smooth, like a tube. It looks solid enough, though... you reach into the light that burst out when you opened the box, and pick up the candy cane. It hangs over your hand, freezing into a horseshoe shape. But you quickly discover than if you pick it up and try to bend it, it'll freeze again, into another shape. After a few minutes excitedly playing around with it, twisting it into crazier and funnier shapes, you form it into an open-ended heart shape and bite onto the end. Instantly mingled flavors of sharp peppermint, caramel, and rich minty chocolate explode into your mouth, more delicious than you could have guessed. Sweet, sharp, succulent--and there's so much of this candy cane, too!

What a perfect wintertime treat!

OOOOOOOOOH thank you for taking the time to create this gift, Clouded Leopard! *bends candy cane into a heart* I will have plenty of fun with this. I definitely agree: What a perfect wintertime treat. So creative too. It should be in Willy Wonka's factory. It's such a cool idea! I've never been much of a candy cane person, but if I had one of these, my opinion would change. *licks* Mmmm, dark chocolate. *licks again* Dark chocolate and peppermint...oh,it's changing now. It tastes like...fresh French bread? *licks* A pastry now...a pastry with caramel...caramel!

(Ooh, I want to reveal myself, but I must wait until my present is claimed.)

Once again, thank you so much, Cloud. :)

Forgive me, O Tannenbaum for not escorting this present to you sooner.

As you open the strange flat thing, your fingers catch on something, and you pull on it. As you pull, something springs up. A ribbon falls to the ground as you remove the mess of wrapping paper from the present. Christmas Cheer coughs apologetically.

And then, a basket of flowers springs up, unlike those you have ever seen before! And they smell so good, so comforting. "Tie the ribbon back on, and it becomes a picture. Unforunatley, I could not discover how to make it smell good while in picture form. Hope you enjoy!"

And with that, Christmas Cheer disappears with a bang as she yells, "BY THE WAY, IT'S ME, CHO!!!" She laughs merrily.

"Christmas Cheer, Cho Chang! It's all in the initials!"
