I have a question for you. Are bugs and fish animals?

I think so, and my mum, who used to study biology, does, too. I just want to know about your opinions.

As for pets, I have 2 rabbits, 2 dogs, 1 fish, we're going to buy more in the spring, and 2 chickens.

I have exciting news! My black bobbly fish, who we thought was male for over a year, is a female! She started laying eggs after her companions died, in hope that a male fish is going to come fertilize them. Becuase it is winter right now, and our fish live in a pond out doors, we are going to get them ij the spring so they dont die.

YES! I have loved animals my entire life, own two dogs, a hamster (my brother does too), a fish, bird, lamb, and fourteen chickens. They are probably the most loved animals in the world. Animals are a subject very near and dear to my heart, and although dogs have always been my favorite, I love them all, and have never met an animal I didn't like. Any opportunity to help an animal that I get makes my day happy, and even discovering the littlest frog livens my heart. I've never met anyone who loves animals as much I do. I feel very strongly about animal cruelty, and any sort if abuse to animals makes me very angry. I also don't like people who don't value animals or give them the credit they deserve. Especially those who say things like, "they're just an animal." 

I have big dreams of opening a no-kill animal shelter when I grow up, and saving as many animals as I possibly can.

All that to say, I am a HUGE animal lover, and I am super happy that you made this thread! :D 

I'm not a HUGE animal lover like some of you on the CB, but I like cats and stuff. I have a dog named Pepper who is a black lab/pyrenees mix and two cats named Tiger and Fritzi. 

I also like birds a lot. There are two finches that made a nest in a wreath on our front door, they're so cute and they sing in the morning. It's nice. (Also I like Bluebirds... obviously...)

I absolutely love all species of birds and in a year or two I'm hoping to do volunteer work at an aviary. The American Bird Conservancy is currently working to fight against the Air National Guard in Ohio to prevent construction of an illegal wind turbine on the shores of Lake Erie directly in the migration path of many species of birds around the area, including the Near Threatened Kirtland's Warbler. We have donated a considerable amount towards this project and others, but sadly under our new president it seems that budget cuts will be undergone, preventing the American Bird Conservancy and Black Swamp Bird Observatory from further action on the matter.

Chinchillas are 100% my favourite animal, although I also quite like hedgehogs!

I'm gonna be nerdy and recommend some books about kids fighting for animal rights- they're all by a guy named Carl Hiaasen, who is probably my favorite author.

1. Hoot- about three kids who try to sabotage plans for a pancake house that's supposed to be built on a field of owl burrows. It also has a movie! 

2. Chomp- about a guy on a 'survivalist' TV show who gets lost in the Everglades. One of the main characters is an animal wrangler.

3. Scat- about three kids, a biology teacher, and a guy named Twilly who try to keep a drilling company from building an illegal oil pump in an area where an endangered Florida panther is. They're also trying to reuinte a baby panther with its mother.

4. Flush- about a boy who is trying to prove that a resturant is illegally dumping sewage into the harbor, which affects the fish. 

These are few of my favorite books out there! (Be warned, though- they have a few minor curse words in them) 

My favorite animals are turtles, although I used to like koalas better.  My only pet is a black lab mix puppy named Lucy. She's 1 year and about 4 months old and she's really cute!
