There is an ancient temple in a far away land, long forgotten. Wander through the desert and gaze upon it it, a low sandstone building shimmering with mirage. Descend the crumbling stairs and breath the dust of time immemorial. There is a long, low-ceilinged room, appearing to be empty. But trace a lost rune on the sandy floor, and yet another staircase will be disclosed, leading to depths unprobed for centuries.

No light can be taken on the winding stair, and the ghosts of memory flit about, driving fear into the hearts of even the most courageous. But at the bottom there appears an ethereal glow, beckoning you. This is what your ancestors sought and found at long last. This is what you have been called here to do.

The White Crystal, Anarthia, greatest treasure of ages past. Whoever touched it became greater than they were. Some became strong, some wise. Some could manipulate the world around them. And some were gravely disappointed.

The power of Anarthia was used in moderation and used well, a chosen few protecting mankind from the evils of the world. But then the lust for power overcame the people. More and more wanted the gift of Anarthia, and war broke out among them. Brother fought against sister, husband against wife. Without unity the people became weak and were overcome by the woolly mammoths and saber toothed tigers. Forced to migrate far way, the White Crystal, Anarthia, fell until oblivion.
