CB First Impressions...

So, before you started posting on the CB, what did you think about it, or some of the concepts you didn't understand? Did you have thoughts about it that are hilarious now?

For example, when I first peeked through the windows of the CB mansion, I wondered:

"Why does someone named 'Top!' go around and comment on every post?"

And,

"What kind of a game is AE Ball?"

Hehe. Eh. Anyone else? Admins?

XD This is so funny XD

Yeah, TOPs really had me confused too!

Then the other thing was CAPTCHAs, like, I had NO idea what they were, or how to fill them out properly. It was only until someone linked the Ultimate Guide for me that I understood how to! And it's probably weird, and doesn't really have anything to do with the CB it self, but whatever.

Then the other other thing was I didn't understand the glitch. Like, "Hey, where in the world did my post go? It just.... is gone. Oh, well, make another." And so I did. XD There were many many copies of the same threads that I had made within the first few weeks that I joined the CB XD

I also had NO idea what AEs were. Like, "Why are people arguing with themselves in bold and italics???? That's... a little weird..." XD

Whats a CAPTCHA

A CAPTCHA is the four letters that you fill out at the bottom of the page to make sure you're not a spambot. Some people personify their CAPTCHAs and give them names and make them their pets, and when their CAPTCHA makes a word, the CBer gives meaning to it.

For example, my CAPTCHA was 'dmoi', so maybe my CAPTCHA is French.

I joined a lot of RPs, not knowing what they were, so I probably got to joining a bunch but never posting because I just thought it was a story.  AEs as well.  I asked so many people "What's an AE?" or "What's a CAPTCHA?" it was funny.

Did anyone else not understand the thread order at all? When I first joined, I went around posting on every thread. I even went seven pages back. Poor Admins!

I think so. I first got onto the CB a really long time ago because I had seen the little box in the corner of the Letterbox in Cricket mag that was advertising the CB, basically, and so I decided I wanted to check it out....

I know it was a really long time ago because I remember commenting on a Santa Claus debate thread that had turned to people chucking mud at each other in indignation, and Joe the Stickfiddler was on there. (I vaguely remember him being the one throwing mud, or maybe it was pies) To this day I have not found that thread, neither do I know if it was a Christmas thread from a few years before that I randomly found.

Also, I understood the CB pretty well but one of the things I didn't when I joined was the commenting on threads. (I didn't know how to make a thread at first, either.) If anyone remembers the Some Pictures I thread, I found that and it was already many pages along but I commented somewhere on the first page, asking if someone would picture me....And then after that I kind of started understanding the order-of-posts thing.

I was lucky enough to have an older sister on here, Poetic Panda, who told me about everything I asked about. Any of you remember her? She misses you all! Although, she might be before a lot of you guys' time. She and CL are friends irl-- she got CL (Clouded Leopard if you don't know) to come on for te first time. *nostalgia*

I was probably "after her time," but I still remember her. :D

Considering I started on Kyngdom, my main reaction was, whoa. This is a whole community, muuuuuch larger than Kyngdom...

@Inky: Well, there isn't a specific "time" since people are coming and going. I just realized that as I was typing that not too many people would remember her, since so many people are new/joined in the last year. I'm glad you remembered her, though!

@Everyone: Poetic Panda is my older sister, which I've already said. She inspires me so much and without her, I wouldn't be on here today. She's also the one that inspired me to start doing my signature sign-off (~Starseeker) since she did it too.

I didn't understand the difference between a thread and a post, which lead to much confusion when I saw the "Last to Post Here Wins" thread...

Actually, I still have a question.

Why are these words so tiny?

And why are these words so HUGE?

I almost made an entire thread that would have said:

'Can you toppers please stop topping? It's annoying, and it's a waste of a thread.'

Yep, I thought topping was disrespectful.

I was slow and cautious about it. I think. I actually first came on to post about the Crowd-Sorcery story, but it's mostly a hazy blur, and I didn't return for years. I don't quite remember how I started Kyngdom, but I know that I stayed there and only there for a long time.

When I came here, I knew the basics. I was unaware of AEs, didn't know much about solo writes, RPs or ski lodges, and kind of kept my head down for a while, except to post on advice threads. I quickly developed a theory about the connection between being active here and not checking the second and third pages of the Kyngdom RP Board, and thoroughly proved it to myself when I noticed I was acquiring the same tendencies.

I never posted a self-introduction thread. I was too uncertain about whether or not I wanted to commit. Nymph made my joining official, but by then people kind of knew me anyway, so I just didn't bother. I'm sure you know me now.
