Hobbies!

What sort of hobbies do you have? What do you do in your free time (not that anyone knows what that is)? What do you love to do? How do you express yourself?

Cool thread idea!!

I like to write, read, decorate, play baseball, play soccer, cook, sing (not that I'm any good ;P), browse online videos, and I probably forgot like the defining hobby but hey, that's just me.

I express myself mostly through writing, and browsing through Cricket comments about other peoples' problems, solutions, sorrows, and joys without necessarily commenting helps me cope with my own stuff. So thanks, y'all!!

Thank you! I'm pretty sure this thread has been made before, but I figured we could use another one :)

I love all those things too! What sort of writing do you like to do? I agree with what you said about reading comments on the CB. It's nice to hear (read) all the words of you wonderful people! So thank you, Mm. Mimi!

Also your birthday is on Saturday? Happy birthday (a little early)!

Some of my favorite hobbies include:

Reading - pretty much anything, but right now a lot of YA contemporary fiction.

Writing - right now I have 57,857 words in my current WIP.

Art - drawing, painting, doodling, knitting...pretty much creation in any form!

Photography - this has been one of my loves since I first got a camera when I was eight (I think I was eight). I love capturing moments through a camera. The things I love to photograph are mostly nature and animals, which brings me to two more hobbies...

Nature and Animals! - I love everything about nature. I love being in it and studying it and living with it. As for animals...I can't even begin to tell you my love for living beings.

Playing Sports - I don't play any sports on a team, but I enjoy running, biking, walking, swimming, ridding horses, dancing, climbing and ice skating. I also love a good soccer or football game with friends.

Watching Sports - ice hockey. I live for it. My team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Any hockey fans out there?

Music - playing it, listening to it, dancing to it. Music is well...there are no words for the feeling music gives me.

Learning - I know it isn't exactly a hobby, but humans are constantly learning. I love to learn and I hope to one day share my knowledge with others.

Daydreaming - Yes it is a hobby!

I have many more hobbies, but I'm afraid I don't have all the time in the world, so I should skedaddle off. Cheers!

I'll just go ahead and list mine in the form that Silver did. XD

Reading~ I love to read, which I guess isn't an uncommon hobby. XD My favorite genre is fantasy/romance/adventure.

Writing~ I actually only started writing hard-core over this past year, but I've always dabbled with a couple short stories here and there. I also love writing fantasy/romance/adventure, but the book that I'm writing at the moment is dystopian. I have 51,000 words, 25 chapters, and a hundred and something pages written! Woot woot!!

Knitting~ I love knitting!! I began when I was about 8 or 9, and sorta taught myself. The most recent project that I have finished is my first baby sweater. My county fair is actually taking place this weekend, and I entered the sweater as one of my projects! We'll see how well I placed later today. XD

Journalling/Bullet journalling~ As far as I can recall, I've always kept a journal. I love writing down and keeping track of events or things taking place in my life so I can remember them later on, when I'm old. XD But I actually only started bullet journal yesterday, and I love it! I already feel so much more organized.

Ballet~ I'm not a ballerina or anything, but I enjoy dancing ballet just for fun. XD I started taking classes when I was really little.

I've also taken up yoga fairly recently. That is a lot of fun, and I can already feel how much my body has gleaned from it. When I first started, I couldn't touch my toes; they reached at about mid-shin. But after about two weeks of steady practice, I can almost put my whole palm flat on the ground!

I also love the outdoors. Walking, hiking, swimming, everything. XD Well, almost everything. With the exception of ballet, I don't enjoy sports.

And as for the how do you express yourself question: Through writing, really. XD

I have a gazillion hobbies!

Reading~ I looooooove reading! My favorite genre is.....the Percy Jackson genre!

Writing~ I always have new story ideas, but that doesn't mean I finish them all.

Brainstorming Characters~ Something I like to do.

Drawing Seriously Good Anime~ It's quite easy, acutally.

Writing A SKI LODGE!!!!! Look for Forest Ski Lodge at Pudding's Place!!

Writing - The ability to be able to put words on paper and make someone laugh or cry is an amazing thing to me. I write every single day for somewhere around an hour.

Art - Drawing is another way to express myself. There are more things in the world than just spoken words; to me, art is a way of putting emotions into a visible state. I love being able to draw something and have people pick out the message inside.

Going Outside - Silverwaxwing, I feel exactly the same way as you do about being outside. Every day after lunch I go outside and take a hike around our property, catching bugs, enjoying the scenery, taking pictures, making things, etc. The outdoors is my inspiration to write, and yet, try as I might, I cannot put into words the beauty of nature.

Researching - I mainly research animals. Lately I've been learning about bess beetles! Did you know they care for their young? Even when the grubs grow up, they help care for their siblings until they're all grown up too. And they communicate by squeaking.

Inventing things - I really only plan them. Rarely will I build them.

Music - I compose it on the piano! I also love listening to it while I write. I prefer soundtracks with no words, but I also like Cake and similar genres.

Taking care of animals - Even though this is a chore, I think it counts, because I enjoy it.

Making videos - Agh, I love filming so much, but since it's time consuming I don't do it very often. I make a lot of trailers for things that will never come out (heh heh) and also little movies on Animal Jam.

Cool thread!

1. Art! Pretty much every media except oil (although I'm working on that), art is something that makes me tremendously happy, I couldn't live without it.

2. Writing~ mostly poetry, I used to write a lot of fiction but not so much anymore. I write songs, too. And I guess word lettering/ calligraphy could fall under this category too.

3. Music~ I've played the piano the longest so that's the instrument I'm best at, but I also play the uke and guitar a ton. I like to sing as well- I'd say I have a decent voice, but I've never really been taught how to sing properly so it's not amazing. And I'm obsessed with listening to it too!

4. Needlework-ish crafts- I sew, crochet, embroider, and make friendship bracelets when I'm not feeling particulary creative but still want to do something with my hands.

5. Reading~ although I don't read as much as I used to, it's still something I enjoy.

6. Nature! I absolutely love going on walks, sitting outside, working in the yard, gardening, hiking, canoeing, camping, etc.

7. Baking

8. Photography and photo editing is something I like to do too.

9. Planning /Journaling- I like to be organized, and I always write things down that happen every day.

10. Makeup.

We have a lot in common! I'm trying to learn the ukulele. Do you have any suggestions?

I found really good picking tabs for Hey There Delilah, and Hallelujah! I like playing those better than chords and singing. My friend who also plays the uke said you can play a ton of songs of you learn the chords Am, F, C, and G.

That's awesome! Yes I've found quite a few songs using those chords - which is great! Thanks for the info! :)
