Somewhere while Chasing

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Somewhere while Chasing

Somewhere while Chasing Vermeer on a silent and still night, an incredibly frigid aqua aguana crept towards a the faint warmth emanating from a large structure, not far in the distance. A slim beam of light shown through the door, distinctly yellow in comparison to the luminous moon looming up above. The aguana timidly inched its way past an alluring spectrum of light cast through a glass prism with the name "Alice" engraved into its smooth clear surface. As is squeezed past, and through the miniscule entrance, her attention was captured by an unfamiliar aroma. Scurrying into an obscure corner, she glimpsed a large ornately decorated sign reading "Super Jwyn's Bakery." Suddenly she saw it. Next to a large pot of Lobster Bisque, a tray filled with an an assortment of various cookies. After cautiously scanning her new environment for potential threats, she scuttled over to the cooling rack, snatching a single chocolate chip cookie and slinking off, back into the freezing night... The game was afoot!

Not long after the turquoise creature slipped away, a young girl with long, strait, flowing brown hair stepped out of the darkness, "Gone..." She murmured not exactly surprised, and  just a tweek exasperated. Turning on her heel, she disappeared into the darkness, guided by the silver orb hovering in the sky. Within a few moments she began to hear the telltale signs of a small animal ahead of her. Presently, she caught a glimpse of an aqua-colored tail, and trailing just meters behind, finally scooped the creature into her arms. Swiping the cookie, before gently setting the dazed aguana down again and fleeing, blending into the night.

In a nearby house, a  a fair-haired girl gazed out into the darkness night. As she watched the grass dance in the gentle breeze, her multi-colored eyes reflecting the moon's silvery light, while it shone over the otherwise rather plain prairie-like meadows. She briefly saw a fleeting figure, so springing to her feet, she hurried to the door. Upon going out to investigate, she immediately understood the situation. It was a catch the cookie event! She sprinted over to where she saw the figure now crouching, winded, and grabbed the cookie. Holding it up above her head in victory, she then promptly sprinted away.

Seeing the opportunity, a huge crowd of Chatter-Boxers° began to cluster, which eventually led to them stampeding, once again, after the fair-haired girl. Due to the tumult, the cookie ended up changing hands several times, until finally being obtained by....

...me!

I caught the cookie as it rushed by in the hands of Ella-Belle, then ran off as quickly as I could, trying to make it to the impermeable castle I made for the Last to Post thread. Alas, before I can reach the castle, the cookie is taken by...

... a tall, androgynous-looking kid with sparkling green eyes and windblown brown hair, who laughed as they knocked the cookie out of the catgirls’ hands, then dove to grab it before it could hit the ground.

“Catch you around, loser!” they yelled, then flew up to join their two AEs, rainbow-colored wings expanding behind them.

”Blue, watch out!” Cloud yelled.

”Wh-“ Blue didn’t finish the word, instead turning around to fly after whoever had just snatched the cookie out of their hands.

~I swoop down on my giant dragonfly, snatching the cookie from Blue Moon's grasp. It was still wrapped and stamped with its baker's logo. "Super Jwyn's Bakery" it said. Did I have a bakery? If I did, I had quite forgotton. I looked down at the snowy hill where the building stood and caught sight of the icy iguana.

Aha... Jaybells.

I roll my eyes and zoom away with my prize, but abruptly run into a shield charm, knocking the precious confection out of my hands and into the woods below.~

The cookie landed on a five foot one inch and a half girl in her preteens, who had neck length choclate hair and crystal blue eyes. her lips wer thin and her face was pale, with light freckles dotting her cheeks. Her head was round, and her hands were red for whatever reason. Shiny blue polish were evident on her nails, but worn away, and her shirt was dark red with white stripes, knitted. She wore jeans that were fashionably ripped jeans, and her boots were leather with leather straps laying upon them (they looked a lot better than described here). A phone with a mint green case and a popsocket without a cover and cracks on the top right corner was glued to her right hand and the subject of her black glasses covered eyes attention. In her left hand was a leash holding a smol grey elephant with no bussiness attire, but the costume of a circus elephant, his casual attire since he had quit his job and become an actor. The elephant's name was Ted, and the girls name was Ella Starburst, and the cookie that had landed upon her head was named Chip.

Poor Ella only wanted a relaxing walk in the forest while on the chatterbox. However, her mood was immediately lifted when she saw the cookie's packaging. It was identical to the cookie in the thread her phone was on. Ted walked over to it and sniffed it, but Ella snatched it out of his reach.

"Sorry little guy, this is for a game! I'll buy you a bit more from..." She looked at the wrapper. "Super Jwyn's bakery. Can you call Sammy for-"

"Already here." A two-foot AE in black robes appeared in a puff of black smoke. Her face was pale and her hair was licorice black, adorned with an elegant black witch's hat. Her eyes were choclate brown.

"I kind of like this game. Give it to me, it won't get stolen." Ella obliged and Sammy dissappeared.

"we're gonna win this: I know it!"

Ted coughed.

As I see Jwyn soaring closer, I perform a Shield Charm, and the cookie drops from those grasping hands and tumbles down. I swoop low and snatch it out of thin air. As my fingers close around it, I see the writing on it turn to turquoise, and it now reads "Uni-CORN bakery - everything is made from corn!"

I laugh and prepare to take a bite from the glittering cookie... when suddenly a shadow passes overhead. I look up startled, but no one is there. I shrug and look back down at my cook- WAIT! WHERE IS MY COOKIE?!

My shield charm has worked! Jwyn has flown straight into it, knocking the cookie into MY hands! I quickly Apparate to my metaphorical pit with a metaphorical rope that someone could metaphorically climb down. But they won't, because it's a metaphorical rope, not literal.

But as I am lost in my metaphorizing, the cookie has been taken!

As Kitten distracts herself quite suitably for my taste, metaphorizing, Jaybells swoops down, using the elite power of stickynotes and a very particular vibrant purple shade of pen... but within seconds she suddenly halts in her tracks, catching herself by a millimeter. Wait... wasn't the designated cookie a chocolate chip cookie? From the long forgotten Bakery of SuperJwyn? Why exactly was she holding a "Unicorn" cookie? Arghh... this must be a clever diversion tactic, she thought, disimisively tossing the cookie over her shoulder.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Suddenly she heard the oh-so familiar, almost smug, and definantly triumphant, voice that she had so accustomed herself to. Of course. Of course, he just had to be here. Jaybells turned, expectantly, to the small boy of about 7, with dark bangs perfectly outlining his large violet-blue eyes.

"What do you want?" she muttered, glaring at him. Standing there, figure perfectly complimented by the moon's hazy beams, Conan glanced up at her, smirking. His miniature dark-almost-navy blue suit, the signature bright red bow-tie atop that blank white shirt, and especially way his thick black glasses reflected the moonlight before looking back up at her - she could hardly bear it.

"If my deduction is correct, then you would be a particpant of the CB cookie catch, right?" He said, not using that innocent, higher-pitched voice anymore. Without letting her respond, he continued, not breaking her gaze. "If that's the case, then you would want to keep that precious cookie, right?"

Jaybells pursed her lips together, retorting quite haughtily, " Yes, of course, I already know that, baka. I was simply trying to...er, confuse the competitors, clearly. It seems you've complicated that, though."

"Soka (I see), is that right?" He chuckled softly, following her as she strode away.

"Yes, and I would appreciate it if you could let me keep up with the rest of the CBers," she said blocking the moon with the cookie, reverting it back into the chocolate chip cookie, all the while keeping up her brisk pace. "I need to stay ahead of them."

"Oy, and leave me alone? How inconsiderate!" he whimpered, higher-pitched voice quivering, yet still obviously a bit forced. Jaybells bit her lip, she wouldn't want to be cruel to him, since he was rather sharp afterall... besides, what good would it do to leave him here? She may as well take him, otherwise it would just come back to bite her later. It wasn't even as if she didn't like him around, though she had to act like it.

She handed the cookie to him, only saying, "Just keep up, kid."

Conan slowly, slyly peered up at her, smirking, once again. "Ah-le-le? Ya' just couldn't resist, huh?"

Jaybells scowled, debating silently in her head. Baka, baka, baka! Taku (geesh), I'm in the middle of a catch the cookie event, demo (but) I have to deal with this? Oy, why must I do this to myself? she continued, contemplating various ways to keep the cookie, as well.

"Jaybells? Are you Okay?" Conan asked innocently, piercing into Jaybells' rather nefarious plans and quite frankly, her thought process, overall.

"Yes, of course." She replied, suddenly on guard, and rather suspicious, wondering why Conan suddenly was concerned.

"Ano(Umm)... I can hear something in the distance." He informed her, sounding rather unsettled, himself.

And for good reason, for Edogawa Conan had never seen, or experienced, for that matter, a stampede of determined Chatter-Boxers before. This would be an experience that would forever reshape his life... but perhaps even more importantly, he soon realised that the cookie was gone, taken by...

Sierra. She had long given up on even trying to tackle her way through the almost vicious crowd of Chatter-Boxers, as her previous attempts had only resulted to no avail. She remembered one of her old friends once saying, that no matter how many times you carried out a task, if performed in the exactly same manner, you should expect no variation in the results. Therefore, Sierra stood there, at the edge of the gathering, just waiting... and this time it worked! She caught the cookie, and promptly cantered off on her hypothetical, spontaneously generated unicorn... until the next changing of hands of the cookie!
