Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

@Admins- there's some

@Admins- there's something I want to ask about! I've seen a lot of differing rules, and sometimes you keep in bad and harmful things, like a story I heard about someone's parent who swore online and discriminated against a lot of people. I know CBers don't like that you sometimes let language through, and others don't like that you take out important parts of posts with no explanation.

I work hard on my posts! The length before they are released means I think in depth about what I want to put inside, and try to have good grammar and phrasing. However, I often don't post them outside the Chatterbox! I'd like to know what you would cut out, so I can take it out myself, reducing your workload and keeping my posts intact. I think this would be good for everyone! You say a lot of vague things about the rules, and I'd like to know what you mean by it.

TL;DR: @Admins, can you reply to this post with a list of all your rules? Then I can link it in The Ultimate Guide!

The best we can do is to repeat Chatterbox guidelines that comments should be respectful and what we consider suitable for even our youngest readers. The context of a comment is very important. Please keep in mind that Chatterbox is not intended to be a problem/advice site, a place to discuss anything, nor all things for all people, and that there are different Admins posting comments at different times. We can't all be aware of everything that's been posted, but we do our best to stick to the same guidelines. Some words may be deleted if we think including them may lead to a discussion beyond Chatterbox allowable limits. I suggest you keep a copy of any comment you submit, then if it is edited before posting, check to see what was deleted. That will give you a specific idea of what to avoid next time. Or when in doubt, leave it out! (Gee, that rhymes!)

That's a good idea, but what do you consider unsuitable? (I get you can't say it out loud, but something vague, like 'no excessive romance' maybe?) Also, you've been censoring a lot of things that I think are appropriate for young kids. You've allowed someone to post about a romance problem, but I thought that was offlimits because I wasn't allowed to! I'm confused, and your answer didn't help much...

If you think something you said was unfairly deleted, you can try again and we'll have another look. If you see something posted that you think is against our guidelines, please let us know where it is. Admins are humans.

Your rules make sense to me, and I always do my best to follow them, but there's one thing I've been wondering about. Why is it that you don't allow conversations about gender? I made a post a while back about a character who's genderfluid, explaining what genderfluid means, and you cut out the part with that explanation.

I understand that you don't want there to be discussions that make people uncomfortable, but I'm not sure what about people's gender identities might make someone uncomfortable.

Thanks in advance!

Each comment is reviewed individually before posting. I wouldn't say that we don't allow conversations about gender. But we do limit conversation that we think may lead to related topics we consider inappropriate for Chatterbox. The context of the comment makes a difference.

Seriously, Admins. Being the second youngest Chatterboxer, I can say that after reading one ski lodge, it just made me kind of uncomfortable. I know I am practically only one out of two Chatterboxers without a double digit age, but still. You can't ignore me because I am in the smaller age range. Please consider this thought.

We do our best. If something makes you uncomfortable, then go to another thread. I think most/all of the ski lodges are written with a sense of fun as well as mystery.
