CBer Names?

How'd you come up with your CBer name?

---

I came up with mine because I used RX1NB0W for a custom license plate project back in like sixth grade, and I was listening to a song that was like "Living like a rIoT, sEtTing ofF the sIrEns," so I thought it would be cool, and I'm also a total otaku so I kind of copied Red Riot from MHA XD

My D&D character's name is Tealeaf and it seemed like a good name for the CB as well. Also I am bad at coming up with usernames so I didn't have to do that.;)

When I first came on the CB I had just gotten back from a trip where I saw a lot of lupines and I realized they were my favorite flower so here we are.

I have no idea how I came up with my CBer name, honestly. It probably has something to do with the Winter Soldier, my favorite Marvel character, since pretty much all of my usernames were Winter Soldier-related at the time when I joined the CB.

@Rainbow Riot, Wait- Really!? I totally thought you changed your name from Raining Rainbows to Rainbow Riot because of the MHA character Kirishima (AKA, Red Riot)!

Huh. The more you know I guess.

My CBer name is my pen name, although I use it a lot so it's kinda getting old and I might change my pen name if I ever actually publish a book. "Cynthia" is always a name I liked, and "Maple" sounds like my middle name (Mabel).

Nyx was my name on NOOK rp for a month or so where I made some friends and I kept it here in an attempt to find any NOOK rpers that aren't here. It just stuck, and I figured it would be too much trouble to change it.

Strawberri is the name I used to always use on the internet. I started using it when I did online math games and so when I joined here, that was the natural thing. I also really, really like strawberries.

This is actually one of the questions that people ask me the most! I just passed my official 5-year anniversary on the CB (keep forgetting to make a thread though, haha) and I've been Starseeker since the very beginning.

So, many years ago (about 2013/2014, I forget) when I was 8 or 9, I got really into the Wings of Fire book series. My friend Maloo (not her real name, you'll see) and I made up our own dragonets to fill the original prophecy. This is in the era of, like, when the first 5 books were still being published, so pretty early on in the series. So one of the characters I created was this NightWing named Starseeker. She had mind reading and prophecy powers (again, hadn't read the Dark Secret since it hadn't been published yet) and a silver star scale by her eye. Looking back, she's incredibly similar to Moon, but I couldn't have known that since Moon didn't exist yet, since again, only up to book 4 had been released.

Maloo was the MudWing character my friend created; Starseeker and Maloo were like our main 'characters', or the ones we identified with/used as self-inserts. So when I joined the CB back in August of 2015 (coincidentally on a BaB post about Wings of Fire), Starseeker seemed like an obvious name. I don't remember agonizing over my name choice or anything like that; I think I figured it was fitting, considering the thread I was posting on and what I was into at the time. Who knew that 5 years later, the name would still be stuck!

I also used to change my location boxes around a lot; I'd do a few posts under 'RainWing Kingdom', then a few under 'Travelling', then a few under 'SeaWing Kingdom', etc. Once I started being more serious about the CB, I kept to one location, though. I always did calculate my age in 'moons', one moon being 1 month, if you've ever done the math with one of my old posts.

Anyway! That is the super long, only slightly asked-for reasoning behind my name. Hope you enjoyed reading through this whole thing.

~Starseeker

P.S. I sign every one of my posts with my name because that's what my sister used to do back when she was on the CB, and I thought it was what I was supposed to do. Now it's just stuck!

P.P.S. @Admins, if you could have a CB name, what would yours be?

OH, I'd have to think about it. There are so many wonderful names, and I'm not good at making choices like that. But thanks for asking. I do think Starseeker is a wonderful name, but I wouldn't want to duplicate someone else's choice.

Um... I'm not entirely sure. I used to use Kitten for all of my online usernames, and when I made my first post on the CB, I didn't think about it too hard -- I just went and put it in! Sometimes I think about changing it to something more meaningful, but I can never come up with anything...

Currently, *all* of my online names are cat- or kitten-related, which is more because I can never come up with anything better than because I'm particularly into kittens. So far, I have CatOfCode, CatLikesMath, KittenWrites, Kitten, Blazing Kitten, Kitten8124... and a couple based on my real name.

I wish I had a more distinctive, creative name that I could use for all my platforms, but I can never come up with anything... I said that earlier in this post, didn't I? Well, whatever. Anyone have any ideas?

I think quite a few people know this, but I named myself after the song Fidelity by Regina Spektor. Here's the full story though:

One day I was riding the bus listening to music like I did. I was ready to make my first post on the CB. I posted my first charrie, Solange, on a Camp Half Blood RP. I wasn't sure what to name myself, so I decided to go with a song that I was listening to: Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys. Plot twist.

I was Girl on Fire for a week. That was the one time I had a different name. Basically, I totally messed up in so many different ways including but not limited to: starting an RP for someone else, arguing with CBer about their charries, and being a general nuisance.

I kind of wanted to distance myself from that, so I made my first thread: a terrible poem about politics and loving people or something like that. It was bad. Not the best start. But when I wrote that poem I published under the name Fidelity.

Fidelity is my mom's favorite song and my favorite word. I love the way it sounds. I wanted to name my child Fidelity but it's so ingrained in me at this point that I don't think I could. The lyrics about hearing all these words and music in your head was so relatable to me and still is. And Fidelity is kind of similar to my real name too! <3 <3

<3 Fidelity

P.S. Starseeker, I started signing off because of you XD! I looked up to you so much when I joined the CB and I thought your sign off looked so professional and elegant. I think it's funny that you copied your sister and I copied you. XD I started signing off maybe... 9 months after I joined the CB? I use a heart because at this point you guys know I love text hearts and they've kind of become synonymous with me! <3

I wanted to comment and not spend like five weeks thinking about my name. Once I can come up with some actually good names, expect some variation of a name-change thread from me.

Also, I came on here for about a week last year under the name Dolphin Girl, posted like 2 comments, and got to busy to have time to check here regularly. Dolphin Girl was because in fifth grade I did a project on dolphin abuse and it was around that time. And now here we are.

I've loved and had a fascination of birds of prey since I can remember.  My grandpa was always telling us about the hawks and owls he saw, so perhaps he started it.  For a long time my favorite raptor was the Bald Eagle.  But then one day I started rereading the My Side of the Mountain series and it grabbed a hold of me.  The first time I read them they didn't catch me, the second time I loved them.

The main character had a Peregrine Falcon and after looking at pictures and reading about them they took the place of my favorite bird.

I like the sound of peregrine and I felt like it matched me.  So the choice was fairly obvious for me when I joined Chatterbox.  I didn't even have to think at all, I just typed it in and that's been my name since!  I haven't once wished to change my name, I love it just as much as I did in the beginning.  Maybe even more, it's grown to me.

Obviously, Mary is my real name, and there's a semi-complicated backstory of how "Majestic" came to be involving fifth grade and a fake news show that I wrote the script for, among other things.

Now majestic is my favorite adjective (along with discombobulated).  When I came to join the CB, I just thought of the most obvious name. Majestic Mary. It's what my nickname is for most things, and it seemed like the obvious choice.

As for my age and location boxes, (even though you didn't ask for those), I used to use "Majestic Mary, age 1 eternity, somehwere special," but I soon realized that "somewhere special" was not very special. I think one day I was trying to figure out a good location box to go with "MajesTOP Mary," and I wanted to use "topia" but make it have something to do with me, or something to do with topping. So I came up with Majestopia. And yeah.

I like Geckos.

That is all.

I'm actually a bit of an oldie in disguise and my real CB name is a little more meaningful, but I've decided that when I check back here I want to have a fresh start without being associated with my self from the past. I'm so different and so much older than I was when I first joined here (early 2016 if you were wondering), and no one that I know is really around anymore, so it felt right to just... become a new CBer. Your name really does determine a lot about how people picture you and what your vibe is, and I do feel very different going as Gecko than I did under my old name. It's kinda nice to be anonymous sometimes.
