KyngdomIs an

Kyngdom

Is anyone here currently in Kyngdom? I would like to join...but it all seems so confusing.

Help would be much appreciated!

All I can say is maybe a new conflict arises from what Kyngdom was. And this could be in the future. Either a little (1-20 years) or a lot (100+ years).

Wow!  Printing out the history is dedication, Zealatom.  Although I'm tempted to do the same, I can read ot without the internet and I read better on paper.  43 pages though...My printer might keel over.

Plan wise, I think finishing the hunt for the intruments and the Sword, Shield, and Crown as well as dealing with all the rogue powers wrecking havok all over the place would give us quite enough to do, and it would be nice to wrap up the original conflict.  I like Pointsettia's idea of having our continuation of Kyngdom take place a little in the future.  Perhaps everything came to a sort of standstill for 10 years or more while the various sides did research to aid in the finding of the powers, and when we join with our characters things could be starting to escalate again.  Maybe?

I mixed up names in my post above.  Avara posted the idea first, not Pointsettia.

So my reading speed was much quicker than I expected it to be.

Firstly, I agree on the idea that we should start our own RP's. Most of the old ones are dead as a doornail, so it's the best choice we have now.

As far as the Academy goes, there are still some loose ends which are still undeveloped. 1. Catastrophe and his machine on bleak peak. (the whole thing about portals, remember?) 2. Sylvia's fawn is still kidnapped and missing (as far as I know), so that can be played around with. 3. The sword, shield and crown conflict is still unfolding as we know it. 4. Oh, and Finny, the guardian of the power of fin is still missing. We could do something with that? 5. The power of howl was where everything ground to a stop, so... Yeah.

That's as far as I can go here, because the other loose ends were based on RP's in progress (which are all dead now, as we can all see.) so the 'open-ended' ends should be those.

The backbone of Kyngdom, nearing its end, were made up of Hazel. C, Viola?, Sybill, Luminescence, Catsclaw and lots of other CBers who have all left. :( Most of the key plot-pushing characters were theirs, and I don't think that possessing them without consent is the most polite thing to do here. That's why I think starting years later in the timeline is more friendly to us people in the present, but then we will have the aforementioned loose ends to explain and wrap up first before we can move on. Argh.

Does anyone have any other plans to suggest here? Admins, any ideas to add on? I really want Kyngdom back again, don't let this die...

Ooookkkay. I finished the Kyngdom Academy and am currently hammering through the other threads.

Thanks for reading this!

so here's what I think: we should probably start our own RPs, cause it would be sooo complicated to go through all the old ones and put everything together, and it wouldn't be nice to take over everyone else's charries, like Zealatom says. I was thinking that maybe Catastrophe, hidden away in his bases, could have found out a way to sort of blow everything up and stop whatever important events were going on in Kyngdom at the time. Everyone forgets all about the Powers and BIG and FaFA and all the rest of it - except for a small section of the Resistance and FaFA. This section is made up of - you guessed it - our charries! That way we can neatly sweep all the complex narratives of Kyngdom's history under the carpet, so to speak, and start afresh on the same basic story.

@Peregrine, I just had this idea today - I don't remember posting it on here before, so I was pretty surprised when I saw that you'd thought I had! Perhaps you're a mind-reader ;) /jk  Also, thanks for posting the link! I was already going through that thread to figure Kyngdom out, but it's so useful and I'm sure it'll be a huge help to everyone :D

Hum! Resetting Kyngdom's timeline is no doubt one way out of our troubles. It might also solve quite a few ones that haven't even spawned yet. But-

But it feels kind of like a 'bleep you' to everyone's past work, right? I mean, the whole thing is tempting to do, but its 18450+ words of concentrated history...

Yeah. Not that I'm against the whole idea of 'overwrite', but personally, I think we should get some type of 'clearence' before we decide on something like this. Kyngdom has been a gigantic communal effort which people have thrown immense thought into, and editing its entire timespace continuum isn't a thing to be taken easily.

Might the admins&editors be intrested in taking up the plot lead again? It's a thing I just thought of...

As in, one of the key events in Kyngdom's history:

-...With Catastrophe in control of Jokull, the good guys invade it and rescue Regina.

-Ronan is kidnapped by Catastrophe and is almost executed, but he is rescued.

-The Powers are kidnapped by Catastrophe and Icy goes in to rescue them all.

-Catastrophe's army crushes BIG's laboratory.

-(It is at this point that the Admins and Editors give CBers the control of Kyngdom's plot.)

-...With no one around to write for them, the Powers lost their place in the spotlight. The focus instead shifted to the Resistance and their Power-less war on Catastrophe. Ronan explained that the latter had discovered the tale of three ancient, powerful magic relics known as the Sword, the Shield and the Crown...

...And the plot shifts to the S,S,C (sword, shield, crown) conflict. And it slowly slowed. And froze.

Huuuummmmphhhh.

*exhales*

Right.

I'm going to get some tea.

As others have pointed out, if we were to pick up from where Kyngdom came to a standstill we would have to take over many people's characters which I do not want to do.  There is the chance we could "@" them on separate threads that could catch their attention and possibly gain permission to use their characters, but if only some of them respond we would have another problem.

I also felt a little of the same feeling of just shoving everyone's work and effort out of the way by moving Kyngdom's time.  But then, having things de-escalate then escalating again when we join with our characters would sort of represent what has happened with Kyngdom.  It could also be more realistic as in real life history things weren't continually rushing forward.  There were interludes of 'normal-ness' that don't make it in to history books.  I am fairly certain that some wars had a period of nothing really happening to drive anything forward; just the sides trying to regroup, gather supplies, and come up with different tactics.  I think we could figure out a way to tie the loose threads together with the new threads we bring in without taking over characters.

I am going to be forthright; so far I am largely for the plan I detailed above, but I am absolutely open to others.  I don't want to push this idea upon anyone, and I am not going to insist we go with it.  There are other ideas out there and we can use them too.  If I come across as pushy or controlling please let me know.  I truely don't mean to be either.

There is also the bigger problem that won't go away no matter what we do: key characters (Catastrophe, Claaws, Sylvia's foal, etc.) were all played by CBers I no longer see around.  I don't think we can resolve much, if anything, in Kyndom without using the characters listed above.

You know, tea sounds good. And a book.

Let's see...

I spent about an hour and a half reading the history of Kyngdom and gave up. It is dense. Could somebody who has read it give a quick summary with the key points of the relevant bits, like the SSC conflict and the other conflicts still going on, for those of us whose printers can't handle all forty-something pages of it?

Also, I agree with Zealatom on these two points:

- Resetting the timeline doesn't seem like the right move. I like the idea of a new conflict in the far-ish future maybe even a continuation of the old stuff, because that way the old stuff would still be part of Kyngdom's history but we could do new stuff without having to worry about what to do with the old charries.

- The admins/editors coming back to guide like they did with the first four or whatever chapters would definetely be helpful, even just for a little bit while all the new Kyngdomers got their feet under them. But whatever the new conflict is, whether the admins/editors are involved or not it would definetely need to be something the participants could eventually run fully by themselves, unlike the old stuff where the plot came to a standstill without the Powers.

Been reading through the history of Kyngdom (halfway down page 3 rn!) and here's a note to those who haven't read it: even if you don't want to read the entire history of Kyngdom, if you go to page 2 of the ultimate guide for kyngdom it's got some really helpful stuff about navigating the website.

Hey everyone! I've been slowly watching this thread as I am able to. Like Zealatom said, I did indeed leave Cricket and Kyngdom. Sometimes I check the latter, but not often. Frankly, I don't remember many of the plot ideas we had. Though if any of you have questions with where things were headed, I might be able to answer and help out.

Personally, I'm okay with the time skip idea. However, my only request is that none of you try to use my characters... I had very specific intents with them and I just don't feel right with other people controlling them. Which is why I'm okay with the timeskip and the soft restart. Who knows, maybe it will inspire me to post on there again as one of my old characters... or to create someone new.

Totally forgot to put this in my last post, ugh :/. Anyway, about the Crown, Sword, and Shield thing, I believe we'd decided that Ocean Mer was the recipient of the Crown, my charrie Eniyan would receive the Sword, and one of Soren's charries would get the Shield. (Taurus, I think.)

Just want to say I'm still interested in starting Kyngdom back up too! I was browsing around and found an old charrie form that we could use to make new characters. I agree that we shouldn't re-use other people's characters without their permission. The best we can do is try to revive Kyngdom as faithfully as we can without dishonouring the contributions of past CBers.
