Qs For the

Qs For the Admins

1) I've noticed that bigger posts submitted with seperate paragraphs sometimes come out smushed together, making it one large block of text. Is there a certain word limit on CB posts that we can't pass without the formatting getting butchered?

2) Swearing's not allowed ofc, and I completely agree with that, but do you guys care if we use random symbols like '@$/;-*]+#' and cut off phrases like 'You son of a-', without going into further detail? I don't see some of my characters surviving in an apocolypse saying 'gosh diddly darn it, that sure ruffled my feathers' in a stressful situation.

3) Pictures of real people aren't allowed here, but can we still use famous clean memes if they have a person (the original meme person, not ourselves) on it?

4) This one isn't as pressing and I'm completely okay if you don't feel comfortable answering, but are there certain hours you guys review posts to publish? This is just out of personal curiosity, since you seem to be more active some hours than others.

Thank you for everything you do for us on here!

1) We have no specific word limit, and I don't know about separate paragraphs being run together. I do, however, know that copying and pasting text created outside of a Chatterbox submission window may appear with distorted format when posted.

2) We'd prefer we don't use leadl-in phrases or expletive symbols.

3) We only post CBers own original work on Chatterbox, no memes that are copied from another place, and no realistic images of people.

4) We don't have specific regular hours for posting comments. Different admins are assigned to specific hours of the week, but within each admin's assigned hours there are other things each of us has to do, too. We do aim to post comments as promptly as possible. And it's unlikely that any comments will be posted between 11 pm and 8 am Central time.

Hi! There are just a couple of things I thought I'd mention, in case you find them helpful! First, there's an Admins Question Thread in This Month, where you can post questions that you have for the Admins. Second, here's a good way that you can have your characters use profanity (although it's worth noting that for many characters, it may be more realistic to have them express themselves in ways other than swearing)... you can just say something like, "The criminal uttered a swear word that made [insert other character's name here] turn away in disgust." It can actually be more effective, because you're implying that the swear word was so dreadful that you don't even want to repeat it, which makes your audience think, "Horrors, that must have been a terrible word! :0" It also shows your plain good manners and consideration for your readers, because you show them what the swearing character is saying without exposing them to language that they may find disgusting and unpleasant. So yeah... just a tip, so that you can still keep your characters' dialogue the same should you want to post it!

I think you could bleep out the swear words by replacing each swear word with *BLEEEP*
