Chatterbox: Crowd Sorcery

What next?

What next?

Everybuggy at Cricket has been thrilled with the success of Crowd-Sorcery. It’s been amazing to see how Fred and Emily have worked with your great ideas to imagine “The Girl Who Writes the Future.”

We’d love to hear your ideas about what Crowd-Sorcery should do next. What should stay the same and what should change? Should we try a different genre (e.g., historical fiction) or stick with fantasy? Should we ask Chatterboxers to do something other than create characters? Were the prompts for creating the characters about right or too long? Who would be on your dream list of authors or illustrators to work with?

This is your opportunity to help us write the future with Crowd-Sorcery II! We’re happy to hear any ideas.

Madeline, I like your idea. I do think it would also be good to have that CS Sci-Fi. I've made some characters already if it ever exists. All good ideas. Maybe we could do CS like this, but bring in a different author. I hope CS has a great future. I think this should be an annual thing. A Cricket tradition. Any other ideas?

IKR!! When I saw it, I was sooo excited to make a heroine, and a villian, and a sidkcick! I had started on my sidekick, when I realized... I had missed the deadline. Whoops! So, YES! PLEASE make another Crowd Sorcery!

I have an idea!

I think that we should have a role play! That's where every person makes up a charecter and then everyone writes about it. It would be awesome if it was posted in the magazine, because then everyone could have a chance to be in Cricket!

If anyone else wants to do steampunk please say so. Maybe we can get enough people so we can do it!

I think that that you should do historical fiction,  fantasy or science fiction. And I think that you should have the author pick out of the information provided by Cricket readers the things (characters and so forth) that he he/she believes can be made into the best story.

Allen Lee is a really cool artist.............

Hi, Cricket!
I missed the last crowd sorcery, and I was sooooooo disappointed! It would have been awesome to get my character in the magazine. Please, please, PLEASE make more crowd sorceries! It would be awesome if they were consistent. For example, two months after a sci-fi sorcery, there could be a mermaid sorcery. In addition to making characters, people could contribute ideas for upcoming crowd sorceries! Please at least consider this idea! Thanks!

Hey every Buggy!

I'm really sad that I missed out on the original crowd sorcery contest, so I'd be thrilled if you did another! I think you should continue with fantasy, because many kids love it. I know I do! Also I have a great character!

Have a great day!

Hello!

I was really sad to miss out on the original crowd sorcery, so it would be AWESOME if you did another. I think another fantasy would be great, but this one focusing around Dragons and Elves and such. Although it would also be cool to do a dystopian or a scifi.

I think we should be able to submit Crowd Sorcery characters, words, settings, etc, even when they aren't being looked for. Just to get ideas out there.

Absolutely! Please are welcome to submit and review new characters, etc., anytime.

Hi! I was wondering if we could have more of the CBers (or Crowdsorceryers) actually write part of the story. Maybe it could be more of an RPsh type of thing where, if you have a character chosen, you get to write that character's point of view.

We could have the pro author do the main character and have the same method of voting and so on for that, but then we could also have other characters chosen because of the character but also because of the writing sample. If it is really good writing and a good character, then it would be a very good submission.

And we could compromise. If there is an okay writer with a great character, and an okay character with fantastic writing, the good writer could write the good character.

I also think that the genre could be a mix of fantasy and historical fiction. Maybe magic in the 1920s? Or some other time period.

I really like the idea of fantasy.  I think you should keep that.  With fantasy, your mind is open to any possibility.  I really liked Crowd Sorcery, and I hope you do it again VERY soon!

I would like to know what this 'steampunk' thing is if you don't mind my ignorance. I have no idea why I'm typing/talking/thinking like this, I just am. I also want to know if anyone has thought that Fable doesn't actually have to die when she completes the One Prophecy. She could just lose the talent. This is my third time saying this, but I think it would be a good ending. A loophole for her to discover. Please at least think about it. I would love to have that ending in the story. Unless everyone wants Fable to die?
