Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Is anyone interested

Is anyone interested in doing an RR?

Princess Lila sighed and leaned her head against the cool window. Outside, the kingdom was quiet and cozy, trying to block out the colds of January. She twirled a design on the frosted windowpane. If only it would warm up, then she could go out to the forest and practice her swordplay. Though it was forbidden in the kingdom of Allar, Lila wanted nothing more than to be a knight. It seemd like the most glorious thing in the world. No kingdom to run, no lady-like behavior to worry about...

"Lila." Lila looked up to see her father, King Raymond, smiling down at her. His high brow and regal nose looked just like Lila's, or so everyone said. Her mother stood beside him, looking, if possible, even frailer and sicklier than yesterday. A mysterious sickness had taken her a few months ago, and it was alarming how quickly her mother was wasting away. Lila quickly jumped up and curtsied. "Good day, father. Is it time to go to the courtroom?" He nodded and motioned for her to follow him. Lila sighed, smoothed her long blond hair, and quickly hurried after him.

As they walked down the corridor, the servents stopped and bowed or curtsied. Every once in a while, Lila's father would stop and chat with them. "The dinner you prepared last nigth was delicious, Etsar. The horses seemed very quiet today, John; is there a new exercize you are doing with them...?" Lila sighed and examined her nail, nearly going crash into a servent.

"My apologies, your majesty." A strong, familiar hand reached down to help Lila up. The hand, and handsome face, belonged to Eric, a servant of a knight and Lila's secret best friend. They had known each other since they were little. Almost every day, when Lila snuck into the woods, Eric would come and help her train from watching his master practice. Thanks to him, she was getting better and better every day. Of course, no one knew they were friends. It wasn't proper for a lowely knight's servant and a princess to be friends. But no one had to know about them, did they?

"It's all right, Eric," Lila said, trying hard to hide a scowl. She knew for a fact he had done that on purpose. As if he read her mind, Eric gave a small smirk and hurried off towards the armour room. She would get him tomorrow when they were practicing.

"Your majesty!" A small, nervous-looking servant rushed to King Raymond, bowed. and flew into a panic.

"The worst news, sir! Yorall's declared war on us! We must fight immediately!"

"Most of the knights are off visiting their families for the holiday!" the king exclaimed. "We shall have no one to lead the soldiers."

Eric smiled at Lila.  She shook her head hard.  Eric only smiled before he got in trouble.  "Your Majesty, I beg your pardon, but what if her highness were to lead the men into battle?" he asked politely.  Raymond burst out laughing.

"Young man, she will do nothing of the sort," he said.  Then, he became inspired.  "You, however, have seen a knight venture into battle. You and the knights who have remained here will be commanders in the army."
