Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I just had

I just had this thought a couple seconds ago.

Okay, so what if two of us CB'ers were going on a trip somewhere, and to do so we had to go on an airplane. What if we saw each other in the airport, or on the sidewalk somewhere, or what if our cars briefly passed each other on the highway?

Just think.

It wouldn't have to be a long look, just a short aknowledgment, a wondering at this stranger standing before us.

It makes me sad to think that we'd never recognize each other, when really we know quite a lot about each other from just being on this one online website.

(I don't know, that sounded a lot better in my head, but it could happen, right?)

Yuo don't know how many times I think of this. Every girl who is between 16 and 11 and who has some type of blonde hair is immediatly wondered if she is BHR. Every new person, and some old people that I know, I think when I see them "Are they on CB?" A lot of random people I meet - and it could be them! - are given a searching glance. What I would give to meet a CBer who I didn't send on CB!!!

What if we had some sort of signal - some question or special phrase to ask or test if a person is on CB? That way, if we manage to talk, it might come up.

That could happen. Maybe, when we go to a place with a lot of people, we can write our CB name the back of our hand...maybe?

Or wear a blue bracelet on our right wrist and something else like that.

NO. If you go to an airport, (like you are leaving, not picking somebody up) put your CB name on your suitcase. Big.

Great idea! Next time I fly, I'll look for Magic Dragon, BHR, WritingWarrior, etc.!

Good idea! Either this, or maybe a Cricket (or a noticable character from the mag. Not Ladybug, because she's a common species.)?

I'll totally scribble EVERINNE all over my suitcase next time I fly! If I could get to meet any of you, that would be the coolest thing in the world.

Awesome idea! Though I've only ever flown once that I really remember. My family hardly ever flies. (Despite my wanting a pilot's license. How ironic.) I'll still at least remember this sort of idea for future when I travel!

But what about other places? Obviously I couldn't write Forrest all over my parents car but I mean what if it's someone I know? I have a freind named who loves doctor Who and sings a lot of disney songs, she reminds me of Nora a bit.

I don't know, guys. My CB name is Madeline, and I used to have a suitcase with "MADELINE" on it, but it's a bit dorky now that I'm older, so I got a big blue one instead. We should make a signal like True said. What would it be?

When you are waiting in the airport with nothing to do, find wifi. Grab a computer, iPad, iPhone, iPod, etc. connect, and post on maybe an airport post? Then folks will know you are in the airport. But use the airport abbreviations. (Like I would be Magic Dragon in LAX or something) but if your name is too long, abbreviate it. (Magic Dragon = MD) This would work because it always says 'last comment by' and whoever did it. If you are in the same airport, you can say something like 'MD too! What terminal?' Then you can reply using the 'last post by' to communicate. But only do it in big airports. (Like LAX, SFO, Houston, etc.) I don't know Houston's abbreviation. Sorry. Well, I hope we work something of the sort out!! I really want to meet you all. Or when we are in the same terminal as another CBer, you could put some sort of wristband on that signifies your CBerness. But we'd have to decide on the color first...

Sammie says jpot. Jackpot? Did you win the lottery without giving me a share?

Good point, but except for the rare occasion that we will have an Instant Chat, by the time your post is up, you'll be long gone.

There was one time where I honestly thought for an instance this could have already happened to me -- it was a long time ago, and I think I remember Joe posted a picture of the El or something to do with Chicago -- and I went... I was on the El this past weekend.
