8th grade is actually working out a lot better than 7th.  I like most of my teachers and classes and stuff, but there is one problem.  This one girl, S, has attached herself to me like a leech.  She thinks I'm going to be her best friend, but I don't really want ONE best friend.  That's not how it works at my school.  She bugs me ALL THE TIME.  I mean, I understand that she's insecure--she just moved from WI, and her sister is anorexic--but she could try to hang out with some of my other friends? SOME of the time?  And not be invading my personal space all the time?

HELP!!!!  I don't know if I can face her on Monday!!!!

I just started at a public school and I only had 2 good friends there. I have started hanging out with their friends and we get along great.

If you can manage to get this message across to her that would help.

Try having one of your friends ask to sit with her at lunch and talk to her. Who knows maybe they will get along great.

I have the same problem. This one new kid thinks she's my best friend, just because I'm nice to her. There are tons of other people who actually want to be her friend, and instead, she wants to be mine. Even if I hint I don't want to be partners with her for work, she insists she should. I was playing soccer, she comes over, grabs my arm, and pulls me away asking if I would play with her. Now, I would've done this, if it hadn't been Friday. I told her maybe another day, but she just kept asking and asking. Finally I said, "Hey, I think D would like to play with you." And in fact, D was asking her and asking her if she wanted to play with her. But she still stuck to me. I do try to act as nice as I can, but she just keeps bursting my bubble.

But school stinks anyway. My teacher is so incredibly boring, and she loads us with tons of homework. We have homework in every subject, and I am in 5TH GRADE. All the other classes only have math and/or reading. They even get study hall and we don't. I feel like it's prison there. We don't get to sit with our friends during lunch. And I don't learn anything at all, because it's all stuff most of us already know. There is no up-side.

Today, I am sick. My soccer game was canceled, too. It's been raining for 3 days in a row, and we don't have anything to eat other than soup. Yeah, this day is SWELL!

Braces would fall in this category, right? I got mine adjusted today and I had to have these really stiff rubber bands looped around my two front teeth and bottom teeth, essentially making it impossible to open my mouth wider than an 1/8 of an inch. I can take them out for eating and soccer games, but nothing else. Maybe we should make a braces thread where all the braces-wearers of the world can commiserate...

I have braces and rubber bands ,too, Hannah. I hate them. I think I was tricked into them, because I thought cosmetic meant important not just to look nice.

This thread is ancient - but I still want to say, on the subject of life, that fifth grade is soon and life is weird.Undecided
