Chatterbox: Down to Earth

@GamersAtten

@Gamers

Attention, video gamers!

So, who here, (besides Ashlee) plays video games?

I guess I'm not really a "gamer"--I play video games but I'm not like, geeky or anything about them. And I don't play an awful lot. (Mostly because my dad doesn't let me XD)

Okay. So, who here has heard of the game Ori and the Blind Forest?

Several weeks ago, it was a Friday night and I wanted to play a video game. My dad didn't want me to start a new Skyrim game because he said it would take me too long to make a character. (It's true, I'm nuts about making alter egos.) I started rummaging through our video games, and found a gift card thingy for a free download of this game called Ori and the Blind Forest. I think it came with my dad's Xbox One.

So, the good thing is that it was rated E! Most of my dad's games are Mature 17+. (I play them anyway.) We downloaded it and I started playing!

There was a ton of backstory at the beginning and it was kinda sad and depressing. But once I started playing, it was AWESOME! It's fun, not really creepy, challenging, and there's violence but it's fantasy violence. Mostly you just zap things with lightning.

But then, after I had made a ton of progress I got stuck in a place and I couldn't get out. I spent almost an hour trying different ways to escape but it was no use.

Sooooo, we had to reload the entire game. But since then, I've redone all the things I already did and progressed further! It's going really well. And I also "defeated" the place where I got stuck before.

Well, actually it was my dad because I was stuck in a different part of the game and the only way to get through it was to go in that place where I got stuck and retrieve something. So I spent a long time trying to get through it without going into the place where I got stuck--and, near tears, I went to my dad for help. Of course, he came up with a way to get through both places and did just that, and made a whole ton of progress.

Is this making any sense? XD I'm kind of just babbling now.

Okay, time for a short questionnaire.

1. What game (s) do you play?:

2. Is it a game where you get to make your own character, or are you given a character?:

3. How many hours do you play each week?:

4. When did you start playing the game (s)?:

5. What's it rated?:

6. What type of game is it? (Ex. Fantasy, adventure, umm...etc.):

I loveee Ori! I mean, I never played it but the game looks fantastic. And I sadly cannot play a ton, but as you know, I love video games, every kind of genre besides most arcades and really spooky ones with ghosts and stuff, yeah, not for me. Anyways, here's my answers:

1. What game (s) do you play?:

Like I said, almost everything! I love indie games, first and third person shooters, survival, puzzle, sandbox, pretty much anything. In particular, the entire Assassin's Creed series (I own every single game including side ones besides Revelations and Liberation), COD Ghosts, Black Ops II, The Division, occasionally Minecraft, Spelunky, and a ton more.

2. Is it a game where you get to make your own character, or are you given a character?:

Depends. In COD: Ghosts, you get a bit of customization, but it isn't like an RPG. In general, I usually don't make characters.

3. How many hours do you play each week?:

Hahaa... do you even want to know? In the past, I'd play 14+ hours a day, 7 days a week. Nowadays with school and such I play maybe 2? 3? Daily.

4. When did you start playing the game (s)?:

I watched my dad play games since I was a little kid, and I think I started playing when I learned to read, which was ten. If not then, maybe twelve when I think we got our Wii.

5. What's it rated?:

I usually play mature 17+ as long as it is only violence, because that doesn't bug me. The "adult theme" games like GTA I don't play, because, well... yeah. But I also play some E and E 10+ games.

6. What type of game is it? (Ex. Fantasy, adventure, umm...etc.):

Again, a bit of everything. I usually don't play fantasy, but I do a lot of first and third person shooters, so realistic I guess? And some adventure, puzzles, etc. Just whatever floats my boat that day.

Nice survey! I really hope there are more gamers on here too, that'd be awesome.

Oh, you've heard of Ori! That's great! It's not that well-known.

Yeah, we own every AC game too.

And GTA--bleck. My dad and older brother like it, and we have several of the games, but...eek.

Top!

I know! GTA from my dad playing it a long while ago seemed okay from what I've heard. I was never allowed to watch it though. But honestly, I don't think it's really my kind of game.

1. Civilization V

2. Well, you can choose from a list of old rulers. I'm generally either Catherine of Russia, Darius of Persia, or Elizabeth of England.

3. Not thay often. Only every once and awhile, generally on weekends.

4. At the beggining of the year.

5. Uhhhhh.... E, I think.

6. Well, its basically this thing where you are the ruler of an ancient empire and you have to expand it and build it up from scratch and send people out to settle new lands and such. And there are comouter generated characters to, other rulers you can trade goods with or go to war with, etc. Look it up, it's pretty cool

What do you think about Gandhi nukes?

This game has a high educational rating, so I'm posting this, BUT I don't approve of any game making light of anything nuclear.

I honestly don't think Gandhi has that much power in the game. Russia seems to be the one that's always having a war with someone else. That, or Genghis Khan. Gandhi can get angry when he's not in control of that large of an empire, but I haven't seem him bomb anyone yet. Also, Admins, I stand beside you with the opinion towards the nuclear comment.

Awesome, another Civ5 player, join the team! Seriously, I love Civilization! Although my PC recently is being... annoying, we'll just say that, and it keeps on shutting off. I think I have to reseat the ram, so until then I can only play my PS3, Xbox One, or Kindle. Ehh.

But Civ all the way!

4. I started playing single player Minecraft almost a year ago, but multiplayer a couple weeks ago. Civilization was around Christmas.

5. I'm not sure.

6. Depends what you decide to do.

Wow, another massive time gamer! I used to play that much on my own a few years ago, but the school's slowed that down a lot. Although honestly, I've never played any of your top games because my parents won't buy them. Although Overwatch and UNDERTALE sound awesome.
