Vacations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Vacations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vacations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where have people gone on vacations, lately, or for Kimberly, what are you doing right now??  If you don't go on vacations that often, where have you been in your state that is fun? Where would you want to go to, if you could go anywhere in the entire world (or even beyond!!!)??

I've been on lots of trips, but I'll just tell you the ones I've done lately.  In the summer of 2007, I drove to Emerald Isle, North Carolina.  Has anybuggy been there?  It's a wonderful beach town on a small isle.  We rented a beachhouse with my cousins (they're all at least a junior in highschool or above) and their families.  The house was right on the beach. :) Ahhh... So heavenly!

That Thanksgiving, we drove back to North Carolina, but instead, we went to see family in Hicktown. (For some reason, I love hicktowns!) It's sort of a tradition in my family, to spend Thanksgiving together, but sadly, we can't do it this year... :(

This March, we drove to Florida (we used to live there).  We didn't do the usual Disney stuff like we did before, but we did stay at a Disney hotel, Disney Port Orleans, and we road a boat from our hotel to the Disney Marketplace, and we went to the Disney Animal Kingdom.  We went to some other zoos and did a bunch of fun stuff, including seeing Switchfoot in concert!!!

This July, we went flew to Denver, did lots of cool stuff there, such as go to the zoo (it's the best I've ever been to!!), visit local organizations (my dad is currently looking for job), and go to this amazing park with amazing rocks in amazing forms called Garden of the Gods.  We saw the first coyote I had ever seen, there.  Then we drove up through lots of other states and visited lots of other state parks...  It was fun, though!  TNO, we spent a pretty big chunk of time in Wyoming!  Is Yellowstone in your state, because that would mean we spent a really long time there!?  In South Dakota, we saw Mount Rushmore.  That was pretty amazing.  We also went to Custer State Park, which I thought would be boring, but I liked it more than Yellowstone.  It was the first place I had ever seen a bison in the wild.  Lots of bison.  Over three thousand bison all standing in the middle of the road.  Baby bison! :)  All of the animals that I've never seen in Maine that we saw in the wild, there, were: coyotes, moose (yes, we don't see them in Maine!), bison, beavers, pikas, ground squirrels, the black-footed ferret (yes, the one that was once thought to be extinct!), yellow-bellied marmots, prarie dogs (they are SO cute, but I'll tell you a story about them in minute...), golden eagles, snakes, mule deer, wild horses, wild donkeys, badgers, and a ton more, but I can't remember them.  I seemed too have made a list, but I can't find it either...  About the prarie dogs: when prarie dogs are scared, they stand up and start squeaking. :)  One time we saw them doing it, and we happened to see a badger that was trying to catch them.  We scared it away before it could. :) Later, we saw them doing it again.  A coyote was laying down in front of one of their holes, waiting for one unlucky victim to come up.  Unfortunatly for him, a few seconds later, a golden eagle swept down and grabbed a cute, innocent, little, baby prarie dog.  My mom and I screamed and told my dad to start the car.  He was much happier staying where we were and watching the village of rodents squeak themselves to death. :(

We kept track of all of the licence plates we saw on that trip.  We got everything except for Deleware, New Hampshire, and West Virginia.  For Canada, we got Quebec, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, and Nova Scotia.  For Mexico (this was the first time I had ever seen a Mexican licence plate in person!!), we got Sonora.

So those are the trips I've been on withen a few years.  Where have you been??

I have these two friends who are twins (who told me a long time ago that they get Cricket, so I'm expecting them to be on this site ((I can't get them to answer me if they still do.  We only use e-mails, because they live in WA)) ) who go everywhere! They've been to China (they're adopted, so they were visiting their real parents!!) and saw the Great Wall of China.  They've been to India and have seen the Taj Mahal (they sent me a postcard, which I am looking at right now!!).  They have been to Egypt and have seen the pyramids.  They have been to some African country and have gone on a safari. (They saw a lion kill a wildebeest about twenty feet away from the Jeep! A monkey came onto the porch that they were eating on, and it stole their food!!!)  They've been to a bunch of other places, but I can't remember them off the top of my head, right now.

This year my family went all over the place. First we drove to Saint Louis, Missouri, to visit some friends; then we drove to Nashville, Tennessee, for my dad's work and got to stay in this AWESOME hotel called Gaylord. It has like a city of its own in there!! We spent 3 days there. Then we drove to Montgomery and stayed for only 1 day. After that we went to Dauphin Island and looked around on that for a few hours. Then we drove to New Orleans and stayed overnight there. You cannot believe how much damage is still there from Katrina! Then we went to Lake Charles, Louisiana, and visited my brother who I haven't seen in 2 years! We spent 1 day there. And then we went to Galvaston (which is now wrecked from Ike); it's an island of the coast of Houston. We spent my dad's b-day there. You get there by a ferry, and we saw dolphins on the way over! Then we went to another friend's house in Atoscocita, TX. That was very fun; we spent 2 1/2 days there. Then we went to San Antonio to visit my uncle. We spent 3 1/2 days there and went to Six Flags and a really cool museum! Then we started home. The year before (in 2006 not '07) we went to Disneyland, but I have to go so I won't be telling that!

Wow!  That sounds like so much fun!!  My trip, this year, was all over the place, like yours, but, obviously, not in the same area...  Tell us about Disneyland sometime; I really want to go there!

We went on the Hollywood Tower of Terror.THAT was fun! The people take you up 13 storys in an elavator while showing you a movie, then you get in your seat and get buckled, theres a mirror in front of everyone and they tell you to say goodbye to yourselve then you dissapear and they DROP you the 13 storys!!!!! I've been to Canada, Utah, California, Maine, North Dakota, South Dakota, IL, Florida, I've been to TONS of places! (More than I've said up there) But I've never been across the ocean, SIGH. Maybe I'll go to England or France someday.

HAWAII IS SO COOL!!!!! :):):):) Oops, maybe that's bragging... We haven't even started to visit Canada, which is sorta weird because we're Canadians... I want to visit the whole world before I'm 20 (I know that's impossible...)!!!

I don't mind bragging. I'm angry at my mom and dad because they got to go on an awesome cruise vacation thing, and they didn't bring my brother and I! Now this year, they're going to California without us, AGAIN! I've been to California before, a couple years ago! I wish we could go traveling as much as we used to. *sigh*

My family travels a lot since we're homeschooled.  The last place we went was Florida for New Year's. The next place we're going is Washington, D.C. in 5 days!!! Then we go to Colorado for a week the last of February into March. We once went to Chicago and Disney World in one month!!! That was so fun. I've been to New York twice, Disney World 4 times, Chicago once, Washington D.C. three times, Miami and Orlando a ton of times, Cleveland about 3 times, Atlanta all the time, Boston about 4 times, and SO MANY other places. One of my BFs travels like every month. They once traded houses with friends in Paris for 2 WHOLE MONTHS!!!! They stop by our house about 2 times a year to see us on their way somewhere. The last time they stopped by was when they were going to Michigan for 2 months. They went to China a couple years ago, and I'm pretty sure they've been to Italy. I've never been out of the country, though.    *sob*
