Oh, Lucy. *Hugs* Believe me, I know what you're talking about. I can be super hard on myself sometimes...sometimes it's hard to see the beauty of life around you.
Sometimes there isn't any beauty.
But for me? The one thing that works is kicking myself.
Hard
"Buck up, kiddo. You've got the world in front of you and having a fit isn't gonna help anything."
"But you're no good at anything."
"You mess up."
"You're stupid."
"You know what? I don't care."
Sometimes I drive myself to tears.
I cry, and cry and cry.
And that's good.
That helps.
"But the voices...that one part of you...that negative part...
It always comes back."
So I'll do it over again.

And again.
You know what?
I'm sick of this.
Take that negative thinking and throw it away.
It doesn't do you any good.
Actually...maybe it does? Maybe it makes you stronger?
Who knows.
But it doesn't matter.
Because you don't want it.
So get rid of it.
Sure, that's easy to say.
Not so easy to do.

I've got one sure fire way to cure your problem.

It's so simple.

And man, what a beautiful word.

Oh, and Lucy? There are a ton of artists in the world who make a living off of art. Some of them are amazingly successful.
Oh, and there is one other thing you're really good at...Free verse poetry. You're really good at that.
