Role Models

I recently started a project at school where I collect little pieces of paper that have the name of a role model and a student’s name to know which role model they have. I’ll list some of mine here.

-Malala Yousafzai

-Eliza Hamilton

-Angelica Schuyler

-Chelsea Clinton

-Tina Fey

List your role models and a short description of them here!

Oh cool! These are my role models:

Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I know I can never be exactly like Him, but I, as a Christian, am called to strive for His perfection.

And now for the worldly:

The Admins. I want to be patient, humble, and ready to take anything like they are.

And, surprisingly enough, I want to be like my CB self. My CB self is a lot more thoughtful about what comes out of my 'mouth', and is a TON more emotional and expressive. And also on here there's a ton of opportunities to share what I believe easily and in a way that I don't have to force it on anyone. On here, CBers can choose to ignore what I say about my faith and my beliefs, or they can listen. Wait, I lost track. Oh well. You guys get the point. :)

My role models include:

Christ, who is the perfect example, and I strive to be an example for Him everyday,

My brother who is a year younger than me, but is absolutely AMAZING, and has so many traits I would like to develop,

My Mom, who takes care of my huge family, and doesn't complain,

My friend Caleb, who always listens to my rants,

Joan of Arc, who ALWAYS stood for what she believed in, no matter the danger, and no matter who opposed her,

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln for their faith in this beautiful country we live in,

and many more people-Admins included, because the Admins are the ones who help to make the CB a better place for ALL of us CBers, and they encourage us in our writing and becoming the best authors we can be.

Thank you. :)

I don't have many people that I can, without any concessions, say I look up to. There are a lot of good people in this world, but most of them have done bad things. In fact, there's only one person I can admire without a shadow of a doubt. It's Malala Yousafzai, for being an absolute AMAZING person and making so many big changes in the short time she's been alive. She is a hero and I wish everyone could be more like her.

Omk I have so many role models here’s my top few (just so this post isn’t like 100000 pages long lol cause everyone’s amazing and inspiring cause it’s a hard world out there folks)

Lady Gaga cause she’s A QUEEN and I cannot possibly list all the amazing things she’s done. She’s inspires girls everywhere to be themselves, she’s an amazing singer and a feminist and she speaks up about things shunned or rarely acknowledged and she’s just amazing.

Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande for being open and supportive about mental health and other issues. And they’re amazing people and have kept strong in bad situations and are role models to girls everywhere.

Nikki Minaj for making it big from nothing, and still being a feminist and doing what she does for her and no one else.

Abraham Lincoln, he stood up for everyone’s rights  and freed the slaves and made a huge difference and he was a humble giant. We respect the humble giants.

Elenor Roosevelt cause SHE did most of the work for the New Deal and all the organizations and she promoted feminism in a time of crisis and she’s just an amazing person.

Mandy Moore (the choreographer) shes an amazing dancer and choreographer and I aspire to be like her!

Also all of my dance coaches and all the girls I’ve danced with through the years, all of which are inspiring and amazing and just some of the best people I have ever met. <3

As Rogue and Joan said, Christ first and foremost. He is the perfect role model. One who we can always look up to and trust to never let us down.

Also...have y'all ever heard of Phyllis Schlafly? She almost singlehandedly stopped the Equal Rights Amendment from passing in the 70s. It was a bill that looked good at first glance but was actually going to be very harmful for women and for our culture. One of my teachers said that if he could replace Alexander Hamilton on the ten dollar bill (remember when that was a thing?) he would have replaced him with Phyllis Schlafly. She was a strong conservative, a constitutional lawyer, could debate very well, and had so much amazing class and dignity. If I'm ever in a situation when I need to speak out for my constitutional rights, or just in any debate, I want to be exactly like her.

This is a really cool post.

Christ, the good teacher.

My friend Zoe, who is quite possibly the best person I know.

My camp counselor Cynthia, who is twenty and NOT 'Brittany with too much makeup gossiping on the phone while shopping and smacking her chewing gum', but rather caring, understanding, and most importantly NOT CONDESCENDING. To be honest, I could probably take lessons as to conversing with 7 year olds.

My mom, who deals with me and my dad being moody, WHILE CARING FOR MY ONE YEAR OLD SISTER. GOALS.

My friends, who deal with my heavy social awkwardness that they think I don't know exists. Thanks, y'all! I'm impressed.

And last but not least, my aforementioned one year old sister (lil' cutie!) who never frowns, just as she never fails to bring a smile to the face of anyone within a 10 meter radius of her. I wish I could be just as forgiving and joyful.

Well, lots of people I know online have characteristics I would emulate. Y'all are great.

Most of these people I'm sure you've heard of, so I'm not going to do a description. If anyone wants me to rant for a long time on why any of these people are cool, please ask!

-Jane Goodall

-Vincent van Gogh

-My mother

-Lyra Silvertongue (Do fictional people count? If not please, please ignore this.)

-Bob Ross

As so many people have said already, Jesus first. That one is self-explanatory for me.

I'm going to have to agree as far as Eliza Hamilton--she was just an amazing woman and so forgiving. The world actually doesn't know what her feelings for Alexander were after the Reynolds scandal, but she did preserve his legacy anyway and did a terrific job (fun fact, I'm listening to Helpless as I write this).

My second role model is my former Bible Teacher (from when I went to high school. I ended up going back to homeschool because it just wasn't a great fit). He was always so passionate about the subject, but never in a way that made me uncomfortable. He made me excited to learn, and I did learn so much in a short period of time--probably more than any other Bible course I've ever taken. He was also just an amazing person to get advice from.

I don't really have many other role models...uhm...

fin.

I don’t really have role models, but I definitely look up to my family and my teachers, as well as a few students (like the one from Japan, she’s so smart and brave) and some people I know online. I admire a lot of elderly people; they’re so calm and wise and interesting and interested, it’s just. Love. It’s so much of what I want to be.

The very first ones that come to mind are some of my teachers/coaches. A few specifically, but I can’t list their names here. They are the ones who I would do anything not to disappoint, to make them proud. To be as smart, charismatic, and dedicated as they are is one of the biggest things I want to be as I grow older.

The people I can specifically list:

- Michelle Obama

- Lyra Belacqua/Silvertongue (The Golden Compass)

- Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

- Citra Terranova (Scythe - specifically, the part where she explains why she chose the name Scythe Anastasia, in a very eloquent and admirable summation of who she chooses to be)

- Renee Elise Goldsberry, the actress from Hamilton

- J.K Rowling

- Alan Turing

- Sherlock Holmes
