Rogue shakes her head. “Maybe in a minute.”

”Okay!” I bubble. “I was thinking I’d put on something kinda bright, like Party in the USA, Stereo Hearts, Can’t Sleep Love... Is there anything you want to hear?”

We talk about music for a while, sparing occasional glances when the door opens and someone else walks in. Agent Winter jumps in during a pause to ask Rogue about her group, and I slip away to greet Darkking, then bounce past Leeli and Leafpool when Artimerxx cuts in. I feel a little guilty, but there’s so much to see, so many people to talk to! So much cake. I spend a whole ten minutes on one slice of cake. Across the room, I notice coyotedomino slipping through some of the vines and decide to take a look behind those nearest to me.

A wall of books reveals itself, perched above a long padded bench punctuated by throw pillows. I smile at the sight and step back out. I’ll probably rest there later, but I’m still in the mood to dance. I find the DJ stand, across from the piano, and start the music.

Having hidden in the ivy for the full duration of Eminem’s “Beautiful”, I emerge from my hiding spot to Miley Cyrus singing “Party in the USA.” Not my favorite song, but I’ll admit it’s a good song to kick off a party.

Across the dance floor, near the piano I noticed Artimerrx sitting at earlier on, I see Viola? sitting at a DJ stand, controlling the music. I head towards her, skirting the dance floor for now.

“Hey, Viola?!” She tilts her head towards me, lifting one earpiece of her headphones. “Cool music. May I suggest the addition of Glee’s version of “Raise Your Glass” to the queue?”

(Do you mind if I omit your question mark when another punctuation mark conflicts with it?)

Nostalgia pings me with the first few chords, and I close my eyes, leaning into the sound with an uncontrollable grin spreading across my face.

Then, through the lyrics, I hear my name. I blink out of my head and back into the party, where coyotedomino is walking up. I lift one side of my headphones and angle my head to listen.

”Cool music.” A baseless compliment, surely—I’m not that good at this. He breezes past it, and so do I. “May I suggest the addition of Glee’s version of ‘Raise Your Glass’ to the queue?”

“Ooh, I haven’t heard that one! Sounds good. I’ll drop it in after... Bohemian Rhapsody. There.”

I pull my headphones off and set them down.

“I don’t actually know how to DJ, so I’m just going to let that autoplay. Do you want to dance? I don’t know how to dance, either, but I think with a partner you’re just trying to set off each others’ motions, so in a way it should be easier. Wait, do you know how to dance?”

(I like to think of it as part of my name, but if it bothers you I don’t mind. I have to admit, it does sometimes end up looking weird.)

”Oh! Dance? I dunno... I don’t really know how to dance, unless you count lip-syncing half-dancing in the mirror.”

Viola? smiles. “Yeah, I don’t know if that counts.”

”I also maybe know how to waltz.” I shrug vaguely. “Probably not properly. Speaking of dancing, though, Dance, Dance by Fall Out Boy.”

”What?”

”A song. Just popped into my head, if you can add that to the queue as well. Dance, Dance by Fall Out Boy, from the album From Under The Cork Tree. Sorry.”

”Darnet!”, I whisper harshly under my breath. I just ruined my chance to ever talk to anyone here. CD scurries away me. Understandable, I’m not a very good person. I’m kind of like a graham cracker, depends on the person if they will like me. I’m usually only enjoyable if I’m paired with someone else. CD was the marshmallow, making me tolerable.

I shake my head. This is supposed to be enjoyable, Hooded, make it enjoyable. The music playing isn’t exactly my thing, but yet the music I like isn’t really fit for a dance. I look out on the pond, I wonder if I could dance in these things. I look down at my red ice skates, I push forward with my left foot, and skid to the middle of the pond. “Yes!” I exclaim. I look down at the ice and realize there’s something under the ice, a sort of blueish green glow. There’s a gurgling sound coming from the ice. I don’t know what kind of monsters live in Chatterbox, so I yell “Guys! Someone Help!”

I try to keep up a conversation I’m trying to have with darkking, but it feels a little one sided. Then, I hear a familiar voice call out, “Guys! Someone help!”

I turn around and see that Hooded was alone on the ice, looking down at it. I use this as an excuse to get away from the awkward conversation, (no offense DK!!!!) and jog towards her.

“What’s wrong?” I ask. But as I say that, I see that there’s something glowing underneath the ice. I can hear a faint gurgling noise come from it, too.

“W- what the...”

I feel a little lost and alone, as no-one seems to want to talk to me. I shake the thought away and remind myself that that's probably because I haven't approached anyone yet. I scan the crowd of CBers for someone who's expression matched the way I'm feeling, until I am stopped short by a scream from the other end of the ballroom.

"Guys, someone help!" I seem to be the only one to notice Artimerxx and HoodedMidnight gathered on the ice with a confused look on their faces. I amble over, trying to look like I have something to do. I shuffle right up to them and whisper "Guys, what's going on?"

They jump about a foot in the air and turn to me. "Sorry." I say, biting my lip. That's when I notice a strange glowing coming from underneath the ice. It seems to be moving right under us, headed towards the edge of the ice. Curious but cautious, I follow it taking small steps, and the others do the same.

Darkking smiles. "Nothing much, what about you?" I hear someone call out in the distance, but I can't make out what they're saying. Artimerrx edges away toward the noise.

"Nothin' much," I reply, shrugging slightly. I glance at where Artimerrx left to. Something strange was definitely happening.

"Wonder what's going on," DK remarks, seeing where I'm looking.

"Maybe... we could check it out? Looks dangerous... and somewhat fun."

I've attracted quite a crowd, they all seemed to have loners, or parts of very small groups. They all stare somewhat dumbfounded. Soren speaks up she seems to have still been in the party mood and says jokingly. with a stint of worry "It's probably just a decoration, it does look really cool!¨

¨Then why is it making that noise?¨ Artimerrx replies, sounding anxious, yet fed up.

¨Does anyone here no anything about magical entities, or monsters?...¨ I suggest trying to thin out the thick tension between the others, but sensing the urgency of the situation. DK begins tapping his cane on the ice and there is a load groan-roar.

”What?” I blink.

“A song,” he explains. “Just popped into my head, if you can add that to the queue as well.” I immediately cast about to do so, putting it down after Chances. “‘Dance, Dance’ by Fall Out Boy, from the album From Under The Cork Tree. Sorry.”

”No worries,” I murmur. “Okay, done.”

It is then that a shout echoes from the skating rink and CBers begin to hurry past. I freeze for a moment, then glance over at coyotedomino.

“D—shall we?”

A strange groan sounds from the rink.

"Maybe it's just a decoration, it looks really cool!" I suggest weakly.

"Then why is it making all this noise?" Artimerrx asks worriedly. Good point, I think, fear spreading like spilled ink throughout my body. A deep, groaning roar resounds inside the ice.

"That's probably our cue to run," I comment.

Suddenly after Soren comments the ice starts to crack beneath my feet as I leap off the ice as it splits beneath where I was standing. I look at Soren then back at what emerged from the icy lake and grin. "You really know how to make an entrance."

¨You sure know how to make an entrance.¨ DK says, sounding relaxed, like he's trying to make a joke.

¨This is no time to sound smart Darkking!¨Coroline replies, obvious worried. As ice around us begins to break, I look around, paniced I share glances with the others who are starting to back away from the ice. I want to move. I need to move

I enter the ballroom, my chin held high. It’s quite...crowded. I feel myself take in a sharp breath, averting my eyes from the sea of Chatterboxers, and they rest upon the chandeliers swinging tediously from chains. A sly grin creeps across my grim face. I rather enjoy high vantage points, and what better then the bit of adventure and daring of hanging from a chandelier? I scan the room for possible ways to make my way up, and I notice ivy, and other such creeper style plants on the wallls. Hmmm...there must be some sort of a trellis -hopefully made of metal, or some other such material strong enough to hold me- to support the plants.

I slide through the crowd, trying my best not to be noticed. It’s not that I’m introverted...just, er...I sigh.

as I reach the wall, I am filled with the spirit of adventure. I reach through the plants too the hidden trellises, and as my hands wrap around it, give a sharp tug, testing it’s sturdiness. It holds. My dark eyes sparkle, and the shimmering light from the chandeliers overhead turns parts of my hair a golden bronze color.

I begin my ascent.

Barely more then three minutes later, I reach the top of the wall. I watch the gentle sway of the chandelier I wish to reach, and, with a carefully planned jump, grab hold of the edge, which sends it swinging wildly, me hanging on by only one hand. The overwhelming sense of excitement drives me to whoop for joy, probably giving away my position. I couldn’t care less, though. My only thoughts are on the feeling of metal beneath my fingers, and the smell of wax burning.

With ease a swing my self up, crouching now on the top. With a quick assessment of how shifting my weight would effect the swinging of the light fixture, I rise to my feet, dancing lightly. And then, my eyes filled with daring, I swing down, letting go completely of the chandelier. I here some gasps bellow, but, a fall for only a few moments before catching myself, hooking my knee onto the next chandelier.

Then, as if I wasn’t dangling many feet above the floor, I pull out a book, and begin to read, becoming lost in the world of ‘A Winters Tale’ by William Shakespeare.

(Sorry I’m late, and that this I such bad quality and so short, I’m currently writing this while I have a break from deep cleaning the entire house, which is only 10 minutes sooo, XD)
