@What is this? I think this is really a thread for dealing with loss. OP, I’m sorry I don’t really have any tips for coping, but I hope you know that we’re here for you. *hugs* I’m sorry.

However, that first comment is a reference to a well-known internet meme that originated with a page from a webcomic, Ctrl+alt+del. The meme is famously recognizable in pretty much any format, even one as simple as that comment, and I couldn’t help but post it.

I'm the person who posted as what is this?, so thank you for clearing that up. I was referring to the | |l || |_ thing, not the thread in general.

I think everyone has different strategies for coping with loss. When my grandpa died, I just continued with my life as normal and tried not to think about it. While I'm pretty sure suppressing your emotions is bad for you, it's what worked for me. I think sometimes it's just important to make yourself feel better in the moment, but then also try to make yourself feel better for the future.

In Jewish tradition, during the week after a close family member dies, you sit shivah, and, among other things, many family members come together and share stories. We try to be happy for the life the person lived, rather than sad that it is now over.

As coyotedomino said, we are here for you. *hugs*

I don't really know what it feels like, since I've never had it, but I know a family friend whose mother/grandmother died, and they thought about that yes, they should be sad, but imagine the person's thoughts. They wouldn't want you to be sad for so long! So try to imagine them there, maybe.

As many of them have said, we're all here for you! *hugs gently*

There's Winter so there can be Spring.

Bad times are in your life so that the good times can have sweetness in it.

And life is like the cycle of the seasons. Sure, there will be bad times, but after winter comes spring.
