Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Does anyone else

Does anyone else find the stock exchange really interesting?

Recently I discovered more in-depth how the stock market works, and now whenever I'm interested in a company I search NYSE (New York Stock Exchange): and the name of the stock.  It's really interesting seeing the rises and falls, and what company decisions cause significant fluctuations (there's this very nice chart function that makes it easy for the not-so-perceptive Marigold to visualize).  Actually, though, it's given me a newfound love of charts and graphs that I didn't get from math lessons.

Also most companies that I know about come up are pretty successful, so the numbers aren't very depressing.  It's especially fun to look at the whole chart, because most of them have a point where things went VERY SUDDENLY uphill (like a matter of only a couple months).  It's kind of a hobby to just look at stocks, but it's actually quite entertaining.  I would look into day trading when I get older, but I'm told it's not very lucrative and mostly just an educated gamble, so I'll get my excitement from watching from the sidelines.
