THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.  

(Concerning Rogue’s name.)

(Note:) Hey guys! Recently Alizarine made a very helpful PSA concerning replying to threads/replying to comments. That post reminded me of one my other CB pet peeves and one of the most common errors known to the CB: misspelling Rogue’s name. So I was inspired to create my own PSA. (Alizarine, I hope you don’t mind that I’m completely copying you. :P I give you full credit for the original idea.) 

Sec. one: Rogue Wildling

As I’m sure you all know, Rogue Wildling is the name of a CBer. Rogue’s name means: Rogue (noun): behaving in ways that are unexpected or abnormal, potentially dangerous. Rogue is spelled R-O-G-U-E. It is pronounced ROE-g.

Sec. two: Rouge Wildling

Rouge Wildling is not the name of a CBer. Rouge is the French word for ‘red’, and it is unfortunately a very common misspelling of the CBer in question’s name. Rouge is spelled R-O-U-G-E. It is pronounced ROO-je. It’s easy to see how the two get confused. Still, remember: the u comes after the g in Rogue’s name.

Sec. three; summary

Rogue Wildling is the name of a CBer; Rouge is the French word for red. They are spelled similarly, but not the same. It’s not a big deal if someone accidentally misspells something, but this one is so common I thought I ought to make an announcement. I’m sure Rogue put a lot of thought into her name and would appreciate if the spelling was respected. Thank you.
