Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Does anyone else

Does anyone else have summer plans that have been cancelled? Or plans that are still on that you hope will actually happen? I'm really sad because my summer camp, which is something I look forward to all year, was just cancelled. With no trips and not being able to see friends, I'm afraid that summer will be really boring and disappointing.

I go to a week long summer camp every year - my entire summer will be ruined if I can't go (shudder) I can't even bear to think about it.

I also do swim and dive team at my pool every summer (since I was like, four or something!) And I have so many friends that I ONLY see at the pool. That place is literally my home during the summertime. I HATE THIS PANDEMIC!!!

Penguin Project, an amazing program that helps children with disabilities put on a musical every year, was cancelled this year. It was going to be my first year... I never even got to meet my artist (I'm a mentor, which is like the person who helps with artist and is kind of the understudy in a way) in person. A writing class that I missed last year is cancelled this year too. We don't know what's happening with our regular summer camp yet. And our school musical and band concert are cancelled.

I think I would have been more idsappointed if we had a more solid plan for summer vacation this year, but we only had some vague ideas. Oh yeah, and I won't be able to have a real birthday patry. But I have no idea what that would've been either, so it's not like I had some huge plan that got ruined.

I hope y'all are holding up okay right now and that we can all get a little closer through the CB right now. We've all had our disappointments lately. Hang in there, guys. <3

I REALLY want to my Grandma and my cousin, M, to visit, but if they don't,I'm gonna freak out.

The last couple summers we have visited my grandpa.  I love those visits and the fun things we do during them.  River rafting, star gazing, visiting the local bird center, and just spending time with my grandpa.  It’s always really nice to get out of the city I live in and spend time in the small quiet town my grandpa lives in.  I’m going to be really disappointed if I can’t visit my grandpa this sumnmer or go on camping/backpacking trips.  A music camp I’ve been going to for years was canceled but I’m not very upset about that.  Though I will miss seeing the friends I made there.  I can’t imagine what this summer is going to be like.

I got into a study abroad program for this summer - I was supposed to go to Amsterdam for three weeks. But all of the programs have been canceled now. Thankfully they gave us the option to delay until next year with all scholarships intact, but it was still a big disappointment.

My family has plans that are not yet cancelled, but we don't know what will happen.

We were going to go camping (in cabins) with 2 other families (some of our friends) for two or three days! We were also going to go to Dollywood and The Smokey Mountains. We don't know for sure if it is still going to happen.

Cry

But on the bright side, I could spend time at home being productive if it is cancelled!
