Hi! So I was looking at some old threads and I found a thread for a CBer election. Admin said that we could'nt have elections on CB. This is not a CB election, though I got a good idea from that thread. This thread is called... *drumroll*  CBer of the month! So we will be taking votes and whichever CBer gets the most votes is the CBer of the month! Basiclly the only rule for this election is NO VOTING FOR YOURSELF. So that's it. Let's get voting!

this sounds like a fun idea. However, inevitably hierarchy and popularity will form, causing negative feelings on the CB.

It sounds fun, but anonymous has a point.  Some CBers are a lot more well-known than others.

Mmmmm yeah I'm gonna have to say that this is unfortunately not a good idea, because people will mostly only vote for the more popular CBers or CBers who post more and whom people know more, and while it will make the people who get voted for happy, it's gonna make everyone else who doesn't get mentioned feel bad about themselves. It's just never worked out to have CBers vote for each other for any kind of reason.

And are we supposed to do this anonymously, or can we just post our CB names on here? If we can put our CB names here, I'll post who I really am.

The topic is kindness like Jubille suggested.

Annomous had a point. So maybe here is a solution to the lonely CBer problem: Anybody who wants to be CBer of the the month can put their name down in this thread. You shoud also put some things about yourself. (like kind things you have done).

So that's it. Now start voting.

I definitely agree that this doesn't seem like a good idea... it'll just make people feel left out if they're less popular or well-known. And besides, how are we supposed to pick the "best" CBer? Everyone is so amazing!

I kinda agree, but I think that if we don't think this is a good idea, let's just not participate. If a hierarchy forms, I think we're strong enough to beat it. I think this is an interesting idea and I don't want to assume people are gonna get hurt, so I think we should let it be and if it starts to get out of hand I think Joel and the rest are responsible enough to stop and decide that "Hey, this was an experiment, right? It went wrong, and we learned something."

This does not sound like a good idea to me, singling out one person. I much prefer the compliment threads, where people can say nice things about as many others as they wish, without prioritizing one over another.
