Has anyone ever had a hyper fixation with someone? In real life? Like... because...

Idk. There is this one person I've been unable to stop thinking about all the time. I'm always looking around for them when I'm out even when there is absolutely no chance they'd be there. This has been going on for a couple of years now. I don't know why. Well I do... it's because they are incredibly intelligent in ways I admire and I respect them--a lot. And this has happened with a few people before, but maybe not this much. I find it confusing and weird to feel this way, especially since it doesn't really fit with my relationship to this person.

Before you say I have some kind of crush on this person: I'm not really a very romantic person, or at least I haven't had any notable romantic interests before and have little knowledge of such things. Also, this person is not someone that would make sense/be appropriate for me to have romantic interest in (they are much older, married, etc.).

I think I really just want to be friends with this person and my silly neurodivergent brain decided to make a big deal about it.

It's not a problem at all; in fact, it makes me quite happy sometimes. It's just weird and I was curious to know if anyone has had similar experiences?

I'm pretty sure I have ADHD but I don't want to self-diagnose myself, and my parents don't really believe me and it's hard to find someone who can actually diagnose it...

I finally told my best friend I have a crush on her. She responded quite calmly...but I have no idea what she thinks of me..if she ikes me back or if things are weird now.

Uh, so I'm in need of some advice. How do you know when you like someone? I've had what I think is a platonic crush for sometime, but it could just be a regular crush? And I'm not sure!

Here's my advice! (for what it's worth, I hope it makes sense).

If it's just a platonic liking, it's less intense and more friendly, I guess? If you have a romantic crush on someone, you get excited or happy when you think about him/her, and you might be nervous around that person. Also, one tends to believe that the person one has a crush on is handsome/pretty, and one thinks romantic thoughts about that person, without necessarily setting out to.

Basically, if you're not sure whether it's romantic or platonic, probably it's platonic. When you're really in love with someone, you'll know! :) I hope this helps!

(Iffy, how can you be saying "choat"? Is that an Old English word?)
