Welcome to Nowhere,

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Welcome to Nowhere,

Welcome to Nowhere, Nebraska*.
And welcome to the Game of Mafia.
Some of you may know this game... some of you might not. This is the CB Edition™.
~~
RULES:
- ten CBers may volunteer to play, and one CBer to narrate. Keep in mind the first person who volunteers to be narrator will be the narrator.
- the narrator will choose a Mafia, a Nurse, and a Detective. The Mafia must choose someone to kill, the Nurse will save someone, and the Detective will accuse someone. Everyone will convene to vote someone innocent or guilty. If the Mafia is caught, the people of Nowhere, Nebraska win. If the Mafia kills everyone, the Mafia wins.
- after ten players and one narrator have been chosen, the ten players will then post a character sheet, posted below. For example, I might first post like this:
Joining!

Submitted by Luminescence, age 12, Atlantis
And then like this:
Name: Jeannie Lucas
[insert the rest of the charrie sheet as directed]
Submitted by Jeannie L., age 12, Silva Vivus Umbrare
Or something like that.
- DO NOT REVEAL YOURSELF, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Everyone will know which CBer is the Mafia, but they won't know which CHARACTER the CBer is RPing as, and therefore, they will not know which character is the Mafia. Likewise for the Nurse and Detective. So if you reveal which charrie is yours, the game is kind of ruined.
- please don't dispute my rules unless they seem unfair. There are millions of versions of Mafia, and to avoid confusion we are just going to use this set.
- be active! If you join this, you need to not drop out immediately- it's characters reactions that will allow people to decide whether one is guilty or innocent.
- if you have any questions, ask them! I'll be happy to answer. You may also ask Sky NightStar or Bakerloo. See footnote.
- you may not narrate twice in a row, unless no one volunteers to narrate next. You may, however, use the same charrie twice in a row if you want to, but this might reveal you to everyone so I advise not doing it.
- in the next game I might shrink or grow the amount of people, this is a test run. I also might make it so that multiple games can go on at the same time.
- if you are the narrator, please remember you are basically running the game: I don't suggest volunteering for this if you've never played Mafia before or if you don't think you'll be able to keep a commitment.
- Have fun! Hopefully!
- I'm sure it's going to turn out I forgot something haha so sorry in advance.

Haha, this is the best! I know I'm too late to join, but I'll still be reading along! And maybe I can pop in the next round?

Lavender Clerix was lying in an uncomfortable bed in a room at the only motel in Nowhere, Nebraska. It called itself the Hotel in the Middle of Nowhere- which honestly, was not a good name-  but it hardly counted as a hotel.

She couldn't sleep and was trying not to cry. She would give anything in the world to see what color the bedsheets were, and smell the definitely-dusty and probably-musty air in the room.

~~

Meanwhile, the Mafia was drifting in and out of uneasy sleep. They had to complete their mission, or risk dying themselves, but how? They needed to strike tonight- and there was no turning back after this.

They got up and put on a black T-shirt, jeans, high tops, and a hoodie sweatshirt with the hood all the way up.

They knew what they had to do.

~~

This was pointless. Lavender was not going to get any sleep tonight and it was useless to pretend she was. She stood up and sneezed. Even if she couldn't smell the dust, it was obviously there, and she felt like it was suffocating her.

Whatever.

She turned on a lamp and pulled a light-colored sweatshirt over her pajamas, slipped on a mismatched pair of socks, and put her feet into her sneakers without bothering to tie them.

~~

The mafia could see a girl walking dejectedly out of a motel room. Her hair was bright lavender- not good camoflage- and she was wearing a neon green sweatshirt. The two clashed rather magnificently. It wasn't terrible, the mafia reflected, but it called a rather large amount of attention to the girl.

The mafia shook themselves. They weren't here to review fashion. This girl would be their first victim.

~~

Lavender sat down on the ground next to a geyser. She knew it was a geyser because there was a sign. Her tired brain didn't process what it was called (@Bakerloo, do you remember? I don't XD).

What she didn't know was that just months ago, Safiya Carter had died here, and she was soon to follow in her footsteps.

~~

The mafia grinned evilly. This was good. The purple-haired girl had no idea how close she was to her impending doom.

Stealthily, the mafia crept up behind the girl...

and pushed her in, just as the geyser erupted in boiling water.

The town of Nowhere, Nebraska, woke spontaneously as her scream tore across the air.

The mafia ran.

~~

The town's medical care was unable to save Lavender, due to a miscommunication in which it was reported a student named Nadiya Siknu was the one in danger.

~~

Upon seeing the identified body of Lavender Clerix, the detective accused Abie Tinkler of murdering her.

~~

The next morning, the entire town gathered for a town hall during the trial of Abie Tinkler.

@Abie, you have 24 hours to make your statement in defense of yourself, including an alibi, if you'd like.

@Everyone else, after that, you must vote as your character. Obviously, you can RP while doing this. Is Abie guilty or innocent?

@Lavender, you can RP as the ghost of Lavender if you'd like. Also, you hadn't posted what Lavender was doing, so I just made it up based on her personality, I hope it's okay.

Since Nowhere, Nebraska has *sort of* reformed its justice system, the death penalty is not in use, but if voted guilty, Abie will be exiled from the town... forever. Her fate is in your hands. Choose wisely.

This is ridiculous. Why would anyone in their right mind truly beleive that I was the Mafia? I'm just a student who recently moved here -- why would I murder someone???

There is no evidence whatsoever pointing towards me as the mafia. In fact, I was in my room that night, alternating between reading and studying before going to bed and not getting up in the night. How could I have killed Lavender while I was in my house? This is extremely upsetting -- please vote for my innocence or you will be sorely dissapointed and regretful in cutting off a middle schooler from her new life and her family.

Ahhhh! Nice to be back! Ahem. I will RP/vote later today, I'm in music class. Zoom music class, that is.

Wait. I just drowned. WAIT AGAIN.

Lavender looked around the geyser, a figure, obviously her body, floating inside.

”Ew. That’s such a bad color combination.”

WAIT.

COLOR.

Lavender spin a few circles, and then started floating around the motel, finally happy.

Haha, who would’ve thought that dying was the best thing to happen to her LOL

Abie Tinkler has presented her defense. Her fate is in your hands.

Everyone, please vote Innocent or Guilty, under your CHARRIE'S NAME.

Quill, Kitten, and Silver, please decide right now who you will choose to kill, save, or accuse tomorrow (in the game not literally) so you have decided before hand before you tell me.

Firelily, so glad you're back :)

Everyone except Lavender because she's dead, you have until Thursday, March 25, to vote.

Also, I'm going on vacation on the 27th and will be gone for a week, and I may or may not be able to keep up with this because I may or may not have access to WiFi, so it might need to take a hiatus. But be prepared to return April 3rd if that is the case.

Ginger was tired.

What she really wanted was to enjoy her camping trip, watch the stars, go hiking, and maybe toast some marshmallows, then pack up and go home.

But suddenly, there had been a murder.

Suddenly, Ginger had been dragged from her campsite to this trial against Abie T - a middle schooler - for supposedly killing Lavender Clerix.

At the trial, Ginger went ahead and voted for Abie's innocence.  Why would a random middle schooler decide to push someone into a geyser?

I think Abie is innocent

she scribbled on a piece of paper provided to her. It was stamped with the seal of Nowhere, which was a logo with no defined shake that Ginger could make out.

She handed her vote to the town mayor and exited the courthouse.

As much as I want to have someone to blame for Lavender's tragic death, I'm going to have to vote no. Innocent until proven guilty, right?

I sit in the trial room, trying not to have a panic attack. It's not that different from the one at college. This poor little girl who can't be more than 12 or 13 comes up and makes her defense, her voice shaking. I feel so bad for her. She looks so innocent.

I, Stella Ferner, vote that Abie Tinkler is innocent.

Um, uh, uhm..... I glance around nervously. Should I vote innocent or guilty innocent or guilty innocentorguiiltyyyyyyyy...

I take a deep breath. I mean, with all the rumors flying around.... is Abie guilty?

But at the same time.... she's just a middle schooler. And she seems straightforward and logical.

Why would a logical, straightforward middle schooler murder Lavender Clerix?

I make my choice, and hope it's the right one. I pick up my pen and write shakily:

I, Ruby Claire Tremont, have decided to vote Abie Tinkler innocent.

____

P.S. Can we guess who people are? Wait, no, I guess not, that would sorta ruin the game... nevermind.

This is crazy. Who would blame a middle school student for a murder?? I don't even have to think before scribbling down my answer on the slip of paper: 'Abie T. is innocent.'

OKAY.

Now that we have determined people think I am innocent and it is past the 25th, may I reveal whether I was the Mafia or not??? (And I probably souldn't reveal what CBer I am if not)

submitted by Abie@Lumi, age 13
(March 26, 2021 - 10:37 am)

@Abie, no, do not reveal yourself or if you were the Mafia. Only if you were the Nurse or the Detective.

~~

Abie Tinkler was voted innocent unanimously, to the relief of all. The trial was over. As the town went back to sleep, they had no idea that the nightmare was far from over...

~~

Kitten: who do you choose to accuse?

Quill: who do you choose to kill?

Silver: who do you choose to save?

~~

Reminder: I'll be on vacation for the next week. This will have to take a hiatus, as I'm not sure that I'll have access to wifi. I don't plan on letting it die, though, so please be prepared to return on April 3rd, 2021.
