Languages!

Learning languages is so cool! Right now I'm taking a Spanish class online, and a Duolingo course in Japanese. I know just a bit of Japanese right now but I have to admit I am just starting. I know how to say red in Japanese though: あか. I also know some greetings: おはよう, which means Good Morning and is pronounced Ohio (yes the state), こにちな, which means Hello. Yes, I am also learning Hirigana.

Do you like learning languages? If so, what languages do you like to learn?

I've always wanted to speak another language fluently because A) it's cool and it impresses people B) you can travel to a place and speak the language, and C) then I would be able to say that I'm biracial, bisexual, and bilingual.

Unfortunately, I only speak one language, although I took Chinese for five ish years in elementary school, Italian for three years in middle school, and I'm starting to learn French. I also tried to teach myself some Korean on Duolingo, but it didn't exactly work :)

I am learning Mandarin Chinese.  Though I am very far from fluent, I know a few characters, can say many things if given time to think, and I can understand many things if they are spoken slowly.  I would love to be fluent, just because of all the benefits knowing two languages has.  I'm working my way to fluency, just very slowly!  What's tricky is that one sound if spoken with one tone can mean something totally different if spoken in a diffferent tone.  Because of this you could call your mother a horse if you aren't careful.  It's fun learing another language though!

I know a eensy, teensy, tiny bit of French, like merci (My computer can't do the thingy on top of the words, sorry.), oui, and bonjour.

I know some Spanish, like roca (Rock), gato (Cat), and, of course, gracias (Thank you). So, I might be sayin' some of that at times...

I know, like, maybe a word or two of... Cat. Yes, I kinda speak cat, thanks to my mom's cat, Clare Du Lune. Like, "Mrow?", means "Hey, will ya pet me, plz?", and "Mrow mrow?", means "WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE YA PEOPLE, COME AND LUV ME!!!", or maybe just "Where have you people gone to?!"

I love languages! I have done some Spanish (RS), Latin (school), and Italian (Duolingo) in elementary grades. Since 7th grade I have been learning Spanish both for school and on Duolingo. I also recently started Mandarin Chinese on Duolingo as well, which is pretty interesting! :D

I'm taking my second year of Sign language! It's really fun and easy to learn, and you don't need to learn an accent or anything. only some colleges count it for a foreign language, though, so I'm going to take Spanish in a year or two. :D

Cool! I used to take Spanish in elementary school, but when I went to middle school there were 3 langauges to choose from and I chose French, which I'm learning now. It's pretty cool and I'm going to stay in it, but I'm also just starting to take Spanish (again), on Duolingo, because I figured Spanish is a pretty useful laungauge to know, especially because I live in California where a lot of people speak Spanish. I also want to learn Russian, and I once tried to learn German, too. I think my brother takes or used to take German on Duolingo, and he might be taking Arabic, which would be a cool launguage to learn. My other brother took Latin all of high school but still doen't seem to know much of it, which is a mystery to the rest of us. Also, I don't know if it is because I used to take Spanish or because I'm learning French, but so far the Spanish Duolingo is much easier than the German one...

Yeah, I literally used to spam my Duolingo language list. Like, I would start one language, and then I start another one like, an hour later.

Also, for you people who want to learn a language but don't know where to start, YOU CAN DO IT! Just go google Duolingo and start learning for free!

I'm in my third year of Spanish at school and it's really fun! I think one of the most rewarding parts of learning a language is when you're reading something and you realize that you're no longer just translating the words into English in your head, but actually actively understanding them as they are. I'm also taking Japanese; I took it last year at school and this year online. Asian alphabets are really pretty but haaaard.

For a few years I went to a school to learn Mandarin Chinese because I'm half Chinese and my mom made me, but I only went once a week and never really learned anything except how to count and how to say hello. Now I'm kinda trying to learn Spanish on Duolingo (I haven't been on for a month or two lol) and French and Latin are on my list to try!

P.S. My CAPTCHA just said Macey... uhhh... your name's Hazel, not Macey... *is confused*

I'm learning Spanish in school, and Mandarin because my parents want me to. I think it'd be cool to learn either ASL or Russian, because they don't have any Latin/Chinese origins, so it's like totally different.
