Room Cleaning Help

So this sounds like a weird idea, huh? Well I don't know if anyone even wants help, but I'm pretty amazing at cleaning other people's bedrooms. Mine, on the other hand, isn't looking so hot, but I prefer to clean other people's bedrooms. I don't know why. So I thought I'd challenge myself and help people clean their bedrooms in the spirit of the quickly approaching new year (I mean, we still have a month, but...) VIRTUALLY.

So fill out this form, and I'll get back to you with simple instructions to follow. It won't be too hard, I promise, I'll tell you how to break it down step by step as I do.

Please tell me piece of furniture in the room, and what is on or in it (like a dresser with clothes in it, or a desk with books on it, ect.)

Please tell me piece of furniture in the room, and what is on or in it (like a dresser with clothes in it, or a desk with books on it, ect.) I don't know what you mean.

What is on the floor?: Books, Baseball Cards, Clothes, Dice (My brother left those in there) Paper, etc.

What is the messiest part of you room? What's on or in it?:

My desk. It has money, homework, art, books, certificates, signs, etc.

Do you have a closet?:

Yes, two. It used to be that my brother and I shared a room so we bboth had one closet, but now he's in a different room so I get both. They are both cluttered. Wait, that's not right. I meant, CLUTTERED.

1. Put on some good music.

2. Is there any old boxes in your house? Like shoeboxes or boxes you get in the mail? 'Cause you can use those to put stuff in, if you don't have any bins. If you do have bins, use those, but boxes will probably do the trick as well. Try to gather some boxes if you don't have bins.

3. We'll start with your desk, as it is the messiest part of your room. Take the money off of your desk. If you have a piggy bank or another specific place to put your money, put it there. If you don't have one, this is where those boxes will come in handy! You can use a smaller box for money.

4. Get the homework off your desk. If it's homework you need to turn in, turn it in at school the next time you're there. If it's old homework you don't need, you can probably throw it away or put it in another box.

5. Have you considered taping your art up on the door or wall? You could also put it on top of your dresser.

6. Put the books on the bookshelf.

7. I'd recommend putting certificates on the fridge or taping them on your walls.

8. Put the signs around your room, wherever you'd like.

9. Whatever else is on your desk, find a designated place to put it/display it.

10. Now your desk is fully organized! We'll move on your floor.  Put the books on the bookshelf.

11. Put the baseball cards in a box.

12. Put the clothes in your dresser, or, if they're dirty, wherever dirty clothes go. If you're not sure if they're dirty, treat them as if they were dirty.

13. Put the dice in your brother's bedroom, and tell him you gave them back.

14. Put the paper, if it is blank, on your desk. If it has something on it like art or homework, refer to steps 4 and 5 for what to do with it. If it has something else on it, put it in a box.

15. Whatever else is on the floor, find a designated place for it.

16. If you have put anything in boxes, label them and put them under your bed or in your closets, if their not too cluttered for that.

By now your bedroom should look a lot more clean! I hope I helped!

I am the most disorganized person I know! Thank YOU SO MUCH for making this thread!!!

Name: Red Starlight

Please tell me piece of furniture in the room, and what is on or in it (like a dresser with clothes in it, or a desk with books on it, ect.) ok so I have a desk with clothes in it, and cluttered stuff and my fish on top of it, a desk with like literally everything on it- mainly art supplies, three shelves one with sports trophies and the others with legos and stuffed animals, and a mini storage space with three little drawers with dolls from when I was little, art supplies, and notebooks in it, and a bookshelf with books in it

What is on the floor?: clothes, papers, ART SUPPLIES (I have a LOT of art supplies) torn out pieces of notebook, candy from Halloween that got out of my bag, and minimal trash but some

What is the messiest part of you room? What's on or in it?: my entire room is the messiest part, but my bed (which has clothes and my backpack and *looks at bed* WHY ARE THERE SCIZZORS ON MY BED?! And also books, but other than that the floor is crazy messy, especially near my desk

Do you have a closet?: yep it's cluttered with stuffies and bins and clothes, plus it's small

Anything else: nope, oh but the way I described it makes my room seem big but it's not it's really small just super messy

submitted by Red Starlight

1. Put on your favorite music.

2. Start with your bed, the messiest part of the room. Get the scissors off of your bed IMMEDIATELY and put them on your desk.

3. Put the clothes where they go, unless they're dirty, in which case, where dirty clothes go.

4. Take your backpack off of the bed and put it next to the bed.

5. Put the books on the bookshelf.

6. Make the bed. It's really easy but it looks nice in the end, and you'll feel accomplished after you do it, which is great.

7. Now for the floor. This will be just like with the bed. Start with the clothes. Put them where they go. If you aren't sure if they're dirty or not, they're dirty. It's better to wash something that's already clean than to wear something that's dirty, you know?

8. If the papers are unimportant to you, throw them away. If there's nothing on them, put them on your desk. If they are important, put them with the notebooks or where you put your art, depending on if there's words or art on them.

9. Put the art supplies on the desk.

10. Put the pieces of notebook in the notebook bin.

11. Put the candy in the Halloween bag.

12. Throw all trash away.

13. Now you've finished the floor and the bed! The desk may be a tad bit trickier, but don't panic. Start with the art supplies. Put as many art supplies as you can into the art supplies bin. If any of the bins in your closet are empty or holding things you don't need anymore, these can also be for art supplies.

14. After you've cleared the art supplies, you'll need to find a space for other things on your desk. These can also go in bins in your closet. You may find more trash on your desk--throw that away. If you find books, put them on the bookshelf, and if you find legos, put them with the legos, and so on.

15. By now your room should be much more clean. I hope I was able to help! This looks really long but it's mainly because I broke it down into small steps, so it really will be quick, I promise. And you'll feel very accomplished.

What is on the floor?: Books, occasionally paper

What is the messiest part of your room?: My desk. It has a bunch of stuff on it.

Do you have a closet?: Yes

Anything else: Well, my closet is pretty filled up already, and every time I take out a board game that is not at the top, the stack of board games collapses.

Yes, I do have a bookshelf. Some things on my desk include paper (I like to solve random math problems for no reason at all), trophies, and books or magazines.

Your room actually doesn't sound too bad to me. And good point! I'll add an extra step at the end for tips on keeping it clean.

1. Put on some music you enjoy.

2. We'll start with your desk, as it is the messiest part of your room. Take the candy off of your desk. I'd recommend using an old shoebox or something like that and putting your candy in it.

3. Stack the notebooks or stand them up in a mini-bookshelf like form (if they'll stay up that way), and put the paper, if it is blank, on the other side of the desk, like a "stationary station." If it is not blank, decide what to do with it based on what's on it: maybe a paper with a story on it could go with notebooks, a paper with a letter on it could go with letters, ect. Put the pens and paperclips in the staionary station, too. Send the letters, if they are to someone. If they are to you, read them, if you haven't. You should probably put these in a shoebox or a slightly bigger box, too, so you can read them again whenever you'd like but not have them taking up space when you aren't reading them.

4. Now your desk should be much more organized! We'll move on to your floor. Take the notebooks off of the floor and put them with the newly-organized notebooks on your desk.

5. Put the pillows on your bed.

6. Get the candy off the floor and put it in the shoebox with the other candy.

7. If you have a bookshelf, put the books on the bookshelf. If not, put them on your desk. Stack them the same way you did with notebooks, but separately.

8. The last part is your bed. Put the books on your bed with the books on your desk or bookshelf, put the candy in the shoebox, and put the notebooks with the notebooks on your desk.

9. Now you're done! Below are some steps for keeping it clean:

1. Make sure everything goes back where you've put it. If you're using a notebook, put the notebook back when you're done.

2. Every time your room seems to be falling out of order again, you can come back to these steps I gave you and repeat the ones you need to.
